It's not easy for people to forgive especially when something this tragic and devistating happens. I think that we need to see Eric and Dylan as people. They lived and breathed just as we do. Their actions were unrational and inexcuseable but there lives were lost as well and we should try to remember them not for the people they were but for who they could have been.
Eric and Dylan were part of an "outcast" group that was ridiculed and harrassed. I can relate to them because I too am a person who has been ridiculed for a large part of my life. I would never go as far to say that I would ever kill others as well as myself, but i have felt the anger and hatred that they were feeling. Our society has to learn to accept everyone no matter what our interests, religion, colour or physical appearances are without the struggle to fit in. If that is achieved then this world would be a much better place to WANT to live in. People need to be aware of the effects of words and their actions towards other people when they harass and make fun of others. I guess that until it happens to them to that extent there will be no understanding.
We as a society should now be concerened on how we can prevent this in the future. To make this a perfect example of what people do to one another when we treat others badly. To find out the reasons why people turn to violence as a result of their anger and strive to help people instead of always being so concerned about what we should do to punish them. This was obviously not the only factor but I believe that its a huge part of why this happened. Next time you are about to say something mean to someone think this :
Maybe they are potential killers and I dont want to be the first one killed when they raid the school now do I??
