Levin, New Zealand
This is a sign in Queen Street - Salisbury Street - Keith decided to move his street to Levin..lol. looking west towards the lake
Looking up Queen Street towards the Post Office (tower in the background) - also looking east towards the mountains.
Looking across Queen Street towards the Mall
This is Keith's favourite shop - says you have nothing like it over there !
Our firestation with my car in front (a violet blue Mazda Familia) - we have a few staff but mostly voluntary brigade.
Our town swimming pool - it is under cover and heated (but not very warm)
My baby 1989 Mazda Familia - I bought in 1995.
Our Movie theatre - there are 3 small theatres in the complex - we saw Bicentennial Man there the week after Keith arrived.
The next three pics are of the front of our Mall - so the first is taken from the left of the building, the second is the middle and the third the right hand side - just imagine they are all joined together..lol
New World - our supermarket - we have three in town but this is my favourite
McDonald's - where the plastic food is created !
This is the north end of Oxford Street - our Main Street which is also on the main highway north.
There is talk of by-passing Levin - but I think the town would die if they did.!
Oxford Street south - our main street.
The Bank of New Zealand
The Regent Arcade (the movie theatre used to be situated here before the complex was built in the mall carpark.
Our Post Office building - the Post bank was taken over by ANZ and the post shop is still government owned. They used to be all in one.
This tree is a native of NZ and is often called the NZ Christmas tree - most are flowering round Christmas but some hybrids flower later like this one.
This is the sign at the gates of the Lake Domain - this is owned by the local Maori tribe the Muaopoka who were made slaves by Chief Te Raparaha who spent a lot of time on the island in the Lake Papaitonga.
the boatclub at the Lake - only sailboats (or rowboats...no motors) are allowed on the lake.
The lake has a lot of lake weed in the bottom and has problems in really hot weather with algae growth
There are also a lot of eels in the lake and they do duck shooting on the lake in season but you need to be a Maori to have a hide to shoot from.
