“Yes, of course, come in.” Lizzy followed Johnny into the living room, where they sat down.
“Johnny, remember that night two months ago?”
“How could I forget? You just left me, no note or anything.”
“I know, that’s because I thought you were still married, but that’s not why I’m here.”
“Is something wrong?”
“Not exactly,” she leaned over and took his hand.
“Johnny, I’m pregnant.”
“Oh my god, Lizzy that’s so wonderful.” He pulled her into a hug.
“Uh, Johnny, there’s one other thing.”
“What?”
“It’s twins.”
“Twins?”
“Yes, twins.”
“Lizzy, you know I never stopped loving you.”
“I love you too, Johnny,” and with that she kissed him deeply. He swept her up in his arms and carried her to his bedroom.
The Love Dolls did a very short tour for their second album. They announced Oz’s return to the band and Lizzy’s pregnancy a few days before the first show.
Devon found a wonderful girl, who was also a recovering alcoholic. They supported one another through the hard times. She toured with them and was the best thing that ever happened to Devon.
Oz and Silvia had a beautiful wedding the day before Lizzy’s twenty-first birthday. Silvia looked beautiful and Oz was just as handsome. When Silvia threw the bouquet, Lizzy caught it. Johnny and Robby gave Lizzy knowing smiles. The next day at Lizzy’s birthday party, Johnny proposed to her. Lizzy was nearly in tears when she said yes.
Lizzy woke up one cold December night feeling incredibly thirsty. She untangled herself from Johnny’s arms and pulled herself out of the warm bed. She waddled into the bathroom and picked up a cup. As she reached to turn on the water she felt a twinge of intense pain. She put her hand to her to her abdomen and suddenly realized how wet her pajamas were.
“Oh my god! My water broke.” She rushed back into the bedroom. “Johnny. Johnny! Honey, wake up.”
He stirred and slowly oriented himself. “What is it, Liz? Is something wrong?”
“My water broke.” Johnny sat up quickly and flipped on the light.
“Okay. Uh, you grab your bag. I’ll get the keys.” He stood up and began looking for the keys. She grabbed the bag from the closet and glanced at him.
“Hmm, and maybe some pants too, honey.”
He looked down at himself and laughed. He pulled on his clothes as he helped her out the door. In the car, Lizzy’s pain intensified. She had a death grip on the door handle and was moaning softly.
When they arrived at the hospital they were rushed into labor and delivery. The contractions were getting closer and closer together as the doctor arrived. He snapped a pair of rubber gloves on as he entered the room.
“And how are we doing today, Lizzy?”
“How the fuck do you think I’m doing?!”
"Not exactly language you’d expect from a mother to be.” Lizzy shot the doctor a death look as Johnny attempted to cover for her.
“She’s not exactly herself right now, doc.”
The doctor laughed, “No, I’d say she’s exactly herself. I’ve heard some of her interviews, or should I say listened to the bleeps.”
Lizzy attempted to control her breathing as the doctor told her when to push. When he told her to give him one last push for the first time, she grabbed Johnny’s hand. Johnny’s eyes reflected nearly as much pain as Lizzy’s did.
“Here you go, dad. A baby girl.”
The doctor cut the chord and handed the baby to the nurse, the second one was fast approaching.
“All right Lizzy, I need you to give me one last push.” She screamed out in pain as she pushed one last time. “And the second baby is... a girl as well.” The nurse handed Johnny the first girl and took the second one to be cleaned off. He brought the little pink bundle to her mother. Lizzy just smiled as she took the baby from Johnny and the nurse handed him the other one. The doctor rushed out to another delivery.
“What are their names?” the nurse asked, pen in hand.
“Harmony Lynn Rzeznik,” Johnny smiled down at the baby’s blue eyes.
“Wynter Lynn Rzeznik,” Lizzy saw the same blue eyes in the baby she was holding. It had been Johnny’s idea to use her last name as the babies middle name and she agreed when she couldn’t come up with anything better.
Lizzy was moved to another room and the babies were taken to the nursery. Robby, Suzie, Oz, and Devon had all arrived while she was in labor, now they were allowed to come visit her. They walked in with flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, cards, baby shirts, and anything else they could find in the gift shop.
“What did you guys do, clean out the gift shop?” Lizzy laughed.
“We figured that between the four of us the girls were going to be spoiled anyway, so we might as well get a head start.”
“Haha, funny Robby.”
They all started off down the hall to see the babies, leaving Johnny and Lizzy alone.
“So, what are you thinking?”
“I’m thinking how long before I get to marry the beautiful woman who just gave birth to my beautiful little girls.”
“Come here and kiss me, Johnny.” She kissed him for a moment and then pulled back and said, “Valentine’s Day.”
“Huh?”
“We’ll get married on Valentine’s Day.” He just laughed as he pulled her back into the kiss.
“That was a little over a month ago, so that brings us pretty much up to date.” Lizzy sighed and leaned back in her chair as she looked into MTV’s camera for the BIOrhythm she was filming.
“One last thing,” the producer said, “when will you guys start on a new album?”
“Right after my honeymoon. Which part will you guys use for the ad?”
“Probably the part about you going to Oz’s house ask him to come back to the band.”
She couldn’t help but smile to herself as she left the studio. She had never really thought about everything that had led up to this point until now. What a trip that was.
