Relationships

Lizzy was looking forward to the two week break with Johnny. Sure they would go on the concert tour together but she knew they’d never be alone then. Oz was anxious to get going on a more lucrative tour. Devon was going stir crazy cooped up with Lizzy all the time. A break to take his mind off of her would be nice.

Johnny brought Lizzy out to dinner to meet Robby. Robby was immediately endearing, anyone who greets a stranger with a bear hug is obviously likable. She spent the evening with them and felt completely rejuvenated for the new tour. She spent every waking moment of the next week with Johnny.

Devon was becoming immersed in this new drug scene. He was rarely ever sober and spent every night with a new girl. Years later, when asked, he couldn’t even remember most of those two weeks.

Oz heard a faint tapping at his door, so faint that maybe they didn’t even want to be heard. He pulled open the door and stopped short at who he saw there.

“Hi. Can I come in?”

“Uh.”

“Please, we need to talk. I need to talk to you.”

“All right.” He held the door open for her.

“Oz, I fucked up. Big time.”

“How?”

“I still love you. I shouldn’t have said that thing about your record contract. I want you and I’m sorry.”

“Oh Silvie, I love you.”

Silvia spent the night with Oz and all of the next two weeks. They were together again and that made them both happy. They could deal with the separations.

Johnny knocked on Lizzy’s door, he really wasn’t looking forward to this conversation.

“Hey babe, so did she sign the papers?” Lizzy knew from the beginning that Johnny was in the process of a divorce.

“Well, that’s why I’m here.”

“Come in, let’s talk.”

“I don’t know how to say this.”

“Johnny, you’re scaring me. Would you just say it, please.”

“She wants to reconcile.”

“But you don’t right.”

He didn’t respond.

“Right, Johnny?”

“I just don’t know, Lizzy.”

“But you said you loved me.”

“I do but I love her too and I’m already married to her.”

“So that’s it? We’re done? This is goodbye? Johnny? God damn it Johnny, answer me.” She was crying now and he tried to hug her. “No, no Johnny. Don’t touch me. If this is it, then this is it and you need to leave. If it’s not tell me. I want you Johnny. I love you, but I refuse to be the other woman in your life.”

He turned and opened the door. He stopped in the door, “I’m sorry, Lizzy. Very, very sorry. I love you.”

“Just go. Johnny, just leave.”

She curled up on the couch and cried. An hour later someone else knocked on the door. She wiped her eyes and opened the door.

“Hi. I just found out and I came to see if you were okay.”

She began crying again and Robby pulled her up into a hug. He spent the rest of the evening comforting her. Johnny had officially gone back to Laurie. Lizzy was shocked and just cried and cried. She wasn’t even expecting this. Now she was going to see him everyday on the tour. Oh, this was going to hurt bad.

Right before they left they found out their song had hit number eight.
