You’re fucking dreaming
But you’re wide awake
Your life’s an illusion
Reality evades
You’ve tripped down this road before
You must like it here
I wanna go with you
But you won’t let me near
Fall through your own delirious dreams
Live your life the way that you please
Don’t blame me when you fall to your knees
It’s not my fault you’re deliriously dreaming
Not my fault you spent your life in the dark
Losing your way, losing your heart
Seeing things that were never there
Doing everything but your share
You’re trapped in your own insomniac’s dreams
Saying things even you don’t believe
Living your life through everybody else
They won’t live their lives for you anymore
Fall through your own delirious dreams
Live your life the way that you please
Don’t blame me when you fall to your knees
It’s not my fault you’re deliriously dreaming
Your heaven belongs to someone else
Your hell belongs to you and you alone
For once why don’t you choose your own door
Slipping through the cracks won’t work anymore
You fell through your own delirious dreams
You lived your life the way that you pleased
You still blamed me when you fell to your knees
Maybe it is my fault you’re deliriously dreaming
The tour was going fabulously, everyone recognized them and they were singing along. Oz is happier than he has ever been, not only does he have Silvia back but the tour is going great. Devon sobers up a bit when he hears about Lizzy and Johnny. Maybe he has a chance now.
The Love Dolls begin doing interviews on talk shows and tons of shows on MTV. Girls in the audience are screaming Devon and Oz’s names. “Deliriously Dreaming” is holding at number two on the singles chart. Their album is climbing somewhere around up around number ten.
“Sex, drugs and rock and roll. These are the Love Dolls.” The audience screamed as Carson Daley announced who he was interviewing before the Video Music Awards. “Hi Oz, Devon, Lizzy.” He nodded at each of them as they climbed up on the platform.
Oz nodded at him.
“Hey,” Devon flashed an award winning smile.
“Hi, babe.” Lizzy flirted relentlessly with all of the male interviewers just to see how they would react.
He asked the usual montage of questions presented by all interviewers. The he hit Lizzy with a question that she never expected.
“A lot of your songs on this album are sad love songs, can we expect any happy love songs on the next album?”
Ouch, he hit a soft spot there but she would answer.
“Love is such a harsh thing. Sometimes it leaves you jumping for joy, sometimes it leaves you reeling in pain. And sometimes you can’t tell the difference. So god only knows.” She shocked herself with that answer.
Oz saw how that question shook her up, so now he had to cheer her up. She was doing a surprise duet tonight and that’s what she needed to think about. He got her a drink and enlisted Devon’s help in making her laugh. They succeeded with a little help from Robby. He knew how to cheer up anyone. Lizzy was smiling when she got up to go backstage and change.
Gavin Rossdale’s English accent rang out through the amphitheater. “And now here is Powerman 5000 performing their hit ‘When World’s Collide’ with a special guest, Lizzy Lynn of the Love Dolls.”
As the first chords were struck Lizzy and Spider entered through a cloud of smoke. To go with the futuristic theme of the music she was wearing silver vinyl pants, a metallic black, mid-drift bearing tank top, and lots of glittery make-up. The audience loved the duet, Lizzy and Spider had an amazing chemistry between them as they played off one another on the stage. “Too bad he’s married,” she thought as he chased her across the stage. “Happily married,” she thought as she spotted Johnny in the audience.
She didn’t think she was going to go to the after party but when all of Powerman practically begged her, she complied. She loved the outfit too much to change back into the annoying dress. She pulled a very unwilling Spider onto the dance floor, if he wanted her at the party he was going to dance with her. She felt her pulse quicken to the beat of the music and she felt better than she had felt in weeks. It was so hard to be happy when she heard Johnny sing nearly every night.
She danced with more guys than she could count but none of them had the energy to keep up. Suddenly she looked up to see Devon in front of her, she had never danced with Devon before. That seemed odd considering how many clubs they’d been to together. The song stopped and “Iris” came on, tears began to form in her eyes as she stood before Devon. He didn’t want her to cry over Johnny again. He pulled her into his arms and began to dance with her. He was determined to create a new memory for this song. He felt so safe and comforting that she stopped crying and let herself be led around the dance floor.
“Lizzy,” he whispered, “I have wanted you for such a long time.”
What she did next shocked them both. She kissed him with so much passion that he went weak in the knees. They could barely wait until they got back to Lizzy’s hotel room. They were tearing each other’s clothes off as they fell through the door. Lizzy had a feeling that she would regret this later but pushed it aside.
The next day they were back on tour. That night, when the Goo Goo Dolls were performing, Lizzy and Devon were alone on their bus. She felt really bad about this. She was using him for a distraction, just the way he told her he used the other girls to forget about her. Devon wanted her more every moment he spent with her. he had never put his feelings on the line like this and he wasn’t sure if he was safe.
They had been together two weeks for two weeks when the guilt finally caught up with Lizzy.
“Devon, I don’t know how to say this but here goes. I’m using you to forget about Johnny and I don’t think it’s fair to you. We can’t do this anymore.”
He looked so hurt but she knew this wasn’t fair to do to him.
“If that’s what you want...” If she wasn’t the one breaking up with him then she would have grabbed him and held him right then. Their friendship would survive, she knew that even if he didn’t.
