Computer Science II is our AP computer science course that will help students to build on their already accomplished knowledge of computer science theory basics. In this class, students will learn the Java language, and also learn to further apply the concepts and theories learned in Computer Science I.
In computer science II, students learn to program in Java. Java was developed in the early 1990's by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems. It was introduced to the public in 1995 and has gained tremendous popularity since. It is now the AP computer science language taught in high school as well as the introductory language taught in most colleges.
Java is an object-oriented programming language that is alot like C++, but is quite a bit more powerful. Java is the first programming language created for the Web. It is used all over the world and is one of the fatest growing programming technologies of all time. So not only is it a good language in which to learn programming concepts, it is also a practical language that will serve any student well in the future.
