Chapter I: The Heist
"Today the leader of the notorious Jokerz gang turned himself in", the reporter said," Is this another case of mass phobia in Gotham's crooks or the emergence of Gotham's new Invisible protector?"
Terry McGinnis turned the monitor screen off. He was getting late to go to school. Then his phone rang. He picked it up. A familiar voice greeted him at the other end.
" Mr. McGinnis did you see the news?"
"Yes, Mr. Wayne"
"So, what do you think?"
"I think I have a lot less do now, thanks to Gotham's new Invisible Protector."
"I'm running a little late today, so I'll catch you later tonight. Bye".
Terry kept the phone down and left for school.
The day passed away uneventfully.

Night dawned on Gotham. It shone like a million diamonds in the night. But it was dark at FoxTech Research Labs. Guards patrolled the corridors. A black shape slid stealthily along the walls. Suddenly a guard fell on the floor with a dart sticking out from his neck. The man moved to a door at the end of the corridor and opened it and silently entered it. He then removed a small canister and began transferring samples from a near by refrigeration unit into the canister.
"McGinnis, looks like we have an break in at FoxTech labs", Wayne spoke over the comlink.
"I am proceeding to the scene of the crime", Batman responded.
He parked the car near the labs and went inside. He dropped into the room.
"Looks like someone's raiding the fridge"
The man was startled.
He turned around. For the first time you could see how he looked. His face was covered with a weird helmet whose visor almost obscured his entire face leaving only his nose and mouth visible. He was clad in a form fitting black costume.
His hand wore a gauntlet with a weird looking tubular device that looked like the compact and sleek telescopic sights of a high velocity rifle. He had a dark blue belt, which had a number of spherical silver balls attached to it.
He picked one of these balls and hurled it at Batman.
It exploded in midair releasing a fine mist of poison gas. By the time the gas had cleared the man had disappeared.
Batman went into the alley behind the labs where he thought he had gone.
"I think I lost him"
"I think that's enough for today McGinnis. Come back so that I can analyze the suit."
"Mr. McGinnis." A voice called out.
"I know who you are".
"The voice seems to be coming from near the Lab door. Run a Thermal Infrared Scan with your visor and see if you can see anything", Wayne said.
"Fine. Switching to Infrared. I still don't see anything. This is like talking to a Ghost."
"Where are you?"
"I am right in front of you Mr. McGinnis or should I say 'Batman"? Ha..Haaa...haaaa..haaa!"
"That laugh! I have heard it before. McGinnis get back to the cave as fast as you can. I think I know who are invisible friend is!"
