Chill was born and raised in Scorch City. The city was once really populated, but Napalm was dropped on it in the great WW3. Now, the city is charred, but still standing because of the metal under plating that had been put up for the war. Being raised in an already razed town, they saw little of the war, but in the aftermath, a few rogue battalions of mutant hunters roamed the land to kill what mutants they could. They made it to Scorch city, and came after Chill, but in terror after being chased almost a full mile, he was caught between them and a cliff. But his powers activated themselves in his cowardice, creating an ice slide that slipped him out of harms way, and slipped 6 mechs off the cliff.

From that day on, Chill has bragged about how powerful he was, telling everyone that he'd taken out 6 Mechs by himself with his eyes closed. This was a true statement, but quite misleading. He now believes it himself, and believes himself the most powerful mutant in the world. But this will come to get him in trouble, demonstrated on his first day of the Alpha Squadron, where he was backhanded through a wall by Sizzle.
