Sizzle # 1: |
MISERIES OF THE PAST
|
SUMMARY |
Sizzle is alive inside a mutant testing facility known as Black Ops Station 94. Sizzle and many other mutants are kept her to test mutancy, but also they are trained and forced to assassinate people for the government. Sizzle, in this facility known as Ninja 001, is woken up and ordered (along with his girlfriend Staredown, his friends Press and Volume, and a new guy, Rage) to go to a facility nearby that has been captured by insurgents who are threatening to use the nuclear missiles from the facility against America. Their objective is to disable and destroy the facility. The team head to the facility and make a sneaky entrance, only to be greeted by the insurgents in giant mechanical suits. |
Sizzle # 2: |
DEATH BE NOT PROUD |
SUMMARY |
Sizzle, with his team (Staredown, Press, Volume, and Rage) inside a captured US facility and surrounded by the insurgents in giant mechanical suits, is ordered to have his team take on the mechs and distract them while Sizzle is to take out the nuclear missiles. Sizzle goes to work on the nukes to find Rage cowering by the missiles. Sizzle orders him to watch his back as he disables the missiles. While he works, his team get taken out one by one. Staredown blasts one of the mechs through a wall while Press rips open one of the mechs so that Volume can knock him over with a sonic blast, leaving the operator open to have his throat torn out by Press. Rage gets shot in the chest and Sizzle, while about to avenge him, is ordered to complete his mission or risk having his electrical collar activated. Sizzle relents and continues his work. While distracted by Rage's injury, Press is grabbed by the head and his back broken over the knee of one of the mechs. Volume, trying to rescue Press, is hit over the head by another mech and, while laying on the floor, has her head stomped to pulp. The mech, finished with Volume, focuses on Sizzle, aiming his gun at his back. Staredown sees and calls out a warning to Sizzle, who turns and holds out his hand, absorbing the initial blast and rechannelling it to destroy that mech. Sizzle, previously unaware that he even had the ability to do that, stares confused at his hands, but quickly gets back to work. Staredown uses her optical blasts to crush another mech operator inside his shell. Thinking all the mechs are done, Staredown is caught off guard by the mech she had blasted through the wall, who shoots her in the back. Sizzle finishes just as the last member of his team falls to the ground. Sizzle, distraught at the loss of his team, falls to his knees. The last remaining mech calls in troops to take out Sizzle. But Sizzle decides it is not yet his time and kills the two soldiers with his sword, then turns to the mech that shot his girlfriend, Staredown, the only love he's felt in years. He throws his sword through the chest of the mech and the operator alike, and while he's still alive, fries him inside his mechanical suit. As Sizzle heads to start checking on his team, the administrator of the facility lies to him, telling him that his team is dead (when they were really just mostly injured and possibly salvageable), and orders him to leave the facility. Sizzle has no choice but to obey. He flies out of the facility but notices he doesn't have time to get out of the way of the blast from the nukes he set the timer on. Luckily, he sees a mine shaft. He flies into it and takes out the supports, caving in the entrance just as the nukes go off, leaving Sizzle buried under the rocks. |
Sizzle # 3 |
AN EYE FOR AN EYE |
SUMMARY |
Sizzle drags himself from the rubble inside the abandoned mine shaft. With a damaged tracking system and very little idea of where he is, he starts heading back in the direction of his captors, haunted by the faces of the friends he left to their fates in the facility he was sent to destroy. Back at the facility, the lead captors (the Administrator, the mutant-hating Head of Security, and the Chief Scientist of the Ninja section, of which Sizzle is a part) stare at the computer screen that admits it has no idea what has happened to Sizzle because of his damaged system. Annoyed by the loss of his most powerful mutant and his most efficient killer, the Administrator tells the Chief Scientist, a new employee who is sympathetic to Sizzle's plight, to set his collar to kill if Sizzle does not return within 3 days. After having stood by as the administrator ordered Sizzle to leave his friends for dead and now being ordered to kill him, the Scientist resolves to make amends in whatever way he can. Sizzle walks up to the front of the facility a day and a half later to find the scientist has been waiting there for him. The scientist confesses what the administrator has done. Sizzle, enraged that the administrator had apparently ordered him to kill his friends, snaps and tells the scientist to leave the facility and never come back. Using the ability to absorb energy that he just recently discovered he had in the facility, he makes his way through the facility, killing everyone in his way, completely unaffected by their attempts to electrocute him with his restrainment collar. He encounters the abusive Head of Security and decides it's time to end their long, once single-sided feud once and for all. The officer shoots him in the chest with a sniper rifle, but only wounds Sizzle. As he takes aim again, Sizzle super-heats, then super-cools the lens on the scope, causing it to burst into the officer's eye, and then joins the officer on his scaffolding. By cutting one of the lines, he sends the officer sliding off the scaffold, but pulls it back up in time to catch him by the neck, snapping his spine and killing him, then releasing it to let his corpse fall to the ground below. Then he sets his sights on the administrator himself. Sizzle catches the administrator in his office as he packs up files and provisions to escape Sizzle's wrath. After bullets and the collar fail, the administrator resigns himself to his fate, warning Sizzle that the government won't let him have a normal life and will continuously hound him until they had him again or he was dead. In a sick sense of Karma, Sizzle clips his collar on the administrator and turns it on until the administrator is a blackened corpse. Sizzle then takes the administrators provisions and leaves. After releasing the other mutants, Sizzle packs up in the administrator's car to leave. Some other mutants ask if he would come with them, but the administrator's last words ring in Sizzle's head, so he's forced to turn down the companionship in favor of a life of running, fighting, and loneliness. Sizzle rigs the facility to blow, and heads off down the road, with no particular destination in mind. |
