Sizzle was born in Rouen, France, but only lived there a few years before the separation of his parents, Vicki Schaaf Bicket and Robert Bicket Sr. (Later Electric Man). Moved to Paris, where he was raised until he was 6. His mother moved to Lyon, where she gave birth to Sizzle's brother James Clarence Bicket (Later Eon), Sizzle was unaware of his new brother. At the age of 6, his father was approached by the MSE (Mutant Security Enforcers). They told his father how powerful Sizzle was, and how dangerous he would one day become. After talking it over with his mother, the two regrettably agreed to let them take Sizzle to a facility where he would be safe.

Unfortunately, that's not how it worked out. The MSE gave Sizzle to the US, who stuck him in a Black Ops mutant testing facility somewhere in Canada or Alaska. Here, he was forced to professionally assassinate people that the US government wanted dead, but couldn't accomplish legally. Here, he made some of his first friends: Stare-down, a beautiful girl with optic blasts that he fell in love with; Press, a super-strong mutant that became one of Sizzle's best friends; and Volume, a super-sonic-voiced woman that Sizzle enjoyed the company of.

One day, after having lived in small tubes in the facility for 12 years, Sizzle - now 18 - was given an assignment to take out a nuclear payload in a Russian facility. He was accompanied by Stare-down, Press, Volume, and Rage, a sniveling coward with the ability to control emotions. They went to the facility, but encountered resistance in the form of giant, blue mechanical suits. Sizzle was ordered to disable the nukes as his accomplices took care of the mechs. His team was slaughtered as he worked. When he started to see if they were alive, he was ordered to evacuate, and told that they were already dead. He did as he was told, setting off the nuke as ordered.

When he returned to the facility, he was told by a kind scientist that he'd been lied to. His team was not dead, so he'd killed them when he set off the nuke. Sizzle was overtaken by his own rage, and destroyed the facility with a number of their missiles. He left with a car, his Diamantium sword, and some other supplies. He headed out in a random direction.

The random direction was heading south, and his car finally overheated and failed in a town called Barstow, in front of an opera theater. He decided to stay in the town as he fixed his car, but joined the school (Barstow High School) because of a girl he met named Rebecca Freis (later Blizzard). He took a cover job at a pizza place, but actually was a popular assassin-for-hire behind the scenes. In his twisted mind, he decided to appease his soul for the murders by becoming a crime fighter named the Phantom. Eventually, he graduated and used his assassination money to buy a mansion, and used his mansion to start the Alpha Squadron, with further hopes to make up for his past. Really he probably just wanted company. At first, he added Blizzard, Joe Chacon (DeathHawk, whom Sizzle had saved the life of), Scott Camp (Screen, who Sizzle had met in school), and Nick Camp (Shift, Screen's brother), and later, through interviews, added Inferna (whose hair made him laugh), Switch (because he thought it was funny that Screen was attracted to someone so similar to his own brother), and Forty (because Sizzle is insane). Later, he was informed that Blizzard had also added his brother, Eon (having recently discovered his powers) behind his back.
