  Hogarth's / Spikey's Hedgehog Rescue - Adopt-A-Hedgehog Scheme

  We have an ongoing Hedgehog Adoption Scheme, which is proving quite popular - whereby people can sponsor a hedgehog while in our care, to help with costs of his/her incubation, feeding, bedding, veterinary treatment, etc. We have some lovely hedgies available for adoption, if not for yourself, then how about as a gift for someone special?
To adopt a hedgehog costs just a minimum of £8-00 per person - for each person who adopts a hedgehog you will receive the following:
1. A special laminated Certificate with your hedgehog’s photo;
2. Updates about your adopted hedgehog - these will be published when possible in the newsletter;
3. A year’s Membership to the Society, you will receive all the newsletters during the year, as and when they are published.
Anyone interested should write to:
Hogarth's/Spikey’s Hedgehog Rescue, “Lyndale”, 23 Linden Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 0AR. Please ask for an adoption list and form - all the available hogs will be listed. OCTOBER UPDATE - CHRISTMAS BOOKINGS NOW BEING TAKEN!! SEE BELOW....

***NEW***
Alternatively, a quicker way is to choose one of the hedgehogs/family-groups from the list below. This is the same list we would send out to anyone requesting an adoption list + form by normal post, however you already have the list to choose from here.
With the exception of any disabled ones that couldn't fend for themselves, the hedgehogs listed below will all eventually be rehabilitated back into the wild, after many months of tender loving care and veterinary treatment. The approximate time when each hedgehog will be re-released is given; we rehabilitate all our over-wintered "fit again" hedgehogs in the Spring between April to June, depending on how well-grown they are during the Winter months; the later ones will have probably been either very ill when taken-in and/or very small, therefore needing longer care & treatment with us/our Volunteers.
Please choose from the list here, write your choice on a piece of paper along with your own name & address, and the name & address of who & where you would like the adoption SENT to (if as a gift). If there are any personalised messages you would like added (e.g. "Happy Birthday, from....",etc.), please let us know. Please enclose minimum sponsorship of £8 - cheques payable to "Spikey's Hedgehog Rescue". Cash accepted, and now also PayPal which works with all major credit cards (payable to - dave_hall4@hotmail.co.uk). If sending a cheque/cash please enclose with all details to:
Hogarth's/Spikey’s Hedgehog Rescue, “Lyndale”, 23 Linden Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 0AR.

WHICH HEDGEHOG(S) WOULD YOU LIKE TO SPONSOR? HEDGEHOGS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE (IN OUR CARE). THIS LIST WILL BE UPDATED WHEN POSSIBLE....

LIST OF HEDGEHOGS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION (SPONSORSHIP) - AUTUMN/WINTER, 2007:
THE BRODICK FAMILY - From Hollycroft, Hinckley. This is a whole family-group, of three adorable little "hoglets", that were born in August '07 and were orphaned. They need care during the rest of Autumn and Winter, as are currently too small to survive the Winter on their own.

PERCY '07 - From Peckleton; a Hedgehog Rescue (Countesthorpe, Leics) referral. He was found at the side of a road, out in daylight - weight was only 200g. and puncture wounds, needing intensive care. Currently being over-wintered by a Volunteer near Ashby; Rehab time - end April, 2008.

FLOWER - This poor little hedgehog from Gedling, Nottingham, lost a back leg, by a strimmer - and is lucky to be alive now! Has needed intensive treatment since the Summer, and still hasn't fully recovered or gained enough weight to be kept outside. This hedgie will be looked after in a permanently enclosed garden.
SPRINGFIELD PARK HOGLET - From Hinckley. A newly-arrived "Autumn orphan", needing care during the Winter - she currently weighs 310 g.

SUPER-IMPY ('07) - From Nottingham. This "hoglet" has done extremely well, having been hand-reared. Will be released into the full wild in Spring.
“H” - Amputee, collected from our Vets in Dec. '04, following major surgery ; he has done well so far. Permanent care in enclosed garden due to loss of leg. (Hinckley, Leics.).

PLEASE NOTE - each adoption application we receive is processed as quickly as possible. Please allow enough time for postage.
