Survey: Kate Walsh
Name: Katherine Dominique Walsh. Commonly called Kate.
Birthday: April 14, 1973
Home: For the first 23 years of my life, the Carnivale Festivus (which makes a yearly circuit throughout the continental US). Spent two years in Santa Monica. Currently living in the Greenwood Properties apts., Chinatown, Beacon Harbor.
Eyes: Brown.
Hair Color: Dark brown.
Your Favorite TV Shows? I occasionally watch the Beacon Harbor 5 and 11pm news. For the sheer strangeness of it all.
Your Mouse Pad? I have a laptop; no mouse.
Your Screen Saver? I'll admit it... I have a fondness for those little winged toasters in the "After Dark" screensaver.
Favorite Color: Blue, with purple and green coming up as close seconds.
Least Favorite Color: I refuse to wear orange, or hot pink. Don't even think about trying to change my mind. That awful 70s lime green ranks in the bottom, too.
Favorite Hobbies: Flying airplanes, of course! If I get the time and money, I'd love to invest in an ultralight or perhaps even a hang-glider. I've never flown either of those before, but they look like they would be even closer to the sensation of true flight than what I do now. I also enjoy reading a great deal, and I confess a weakness to playing pool. I've not told Jack about this yet; I'm sure it will shock him that I enjoy such an unladylike pasttime.
Favorite Boardgame: I like chess, though I'm definitely no grandmaster. Scrabble, too. And my family played a lot of dominos and card games when I was growing up. Hmmmm...I wonder what Jack would think if he knew how good I was at poker? Maybe I ought to learn Whist. I think I read somewhere Victorians played that game a lot.
Favorite Magazine: I've never been able to subscribe to any magazine, because I've never had a stable address until now.
Favorite Soundtrack: John Williams' Star Wars soundtracks. Can't get enough of 'em.
Favorite Smell: The fresh air and mown grass of a field or airstrip, some oil scent in the air...
Worst Feeling In The World: Helplessness.
Best Feeling In The World: Just after takeoff, when the sky is clear and I can feel the air currents under my wings. Or when I'm performing for a crowd, and I can hear their cheers and gasps below me.
Favorite Things To Do On Weekends: Bicycle around the city, familiarize myself with Beacon Harbor more. I'm not getting lost as much, anymore.
One Item On Your List Of Things To Do Before You Die: Find the people who were critical to the decision and act of sabotaging my father's plane. And see that justice is meted out to them in abundance.
One Thing You Never Did In Childhood That You Wish You Had: It would have been nice to be able to go to a real school on a regular basis. High School, I mean. There might have been a lot of fun activities I could have taken part in, in that setting.
One Vain Thing About Yourself Of Which You Are Proud: You're not going to find a better pilot than me, unless you look a long, long time.
Ultimate Vacation Spot: Bar Harbor, Maine. Gorgeous scenery, and the best skipping stones in the world.
Most Interesting Place On Earth You’d Love To Visit: Some of those ancient ruins, temples that Lara and Indy are always talking about.
What Is The First Thing You Think Of When You Wake In The Morning? How much time I have to do my stretches before it's time to shower and head to work.
Do You Get Motion Sickness? [wicked laugher] I did, once. I think I was about two years of age. Never have since.
Roller Coasters ~ Deadly Or Exciting? Tons of fun -- the wilder, the better.
Pen Or Pencil? Mechanical pencil, with eraser.
Dogs Or Cats? Both... although I don't like nervy cats, or those little yappy dogs.
Leave Messy Or Clean Up? Clean, clean, clean. Accidents happen and stuff gets lost when things are left sloppy and imprecise.
How Many Rings Before You Answer The Phone? I let the answering machine get it first, usually.
Future Son's Name? Jackson.
Future Daughter's Name? ...maybe Bianca.
Favorite Foods: General Tso's chicken, and Dim Sum.
Do You Get Along With Your Parents? Mom and I have had our differences, but we love each other. I was Daddy's little girl.
Do You Make New Years Resolutions? Not really. But I like to throw a good party for New Year's.
Have You Ever Been Convicted Of A Crime? Nope. [grin]
Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry? Chocolate, most of the time. Vanilla on pie.
Favorite Ice Cream: Mint chip.
Croutons Or Bacon Bits? Croutons.
Do You Like To Drive? Not really; it's frustrating not to be able to lift off and fly.
Do You Obey Traffic Laws? A majority of the time. Sometimes I drive a little fast, on the highway.
Are You Often Agitated On The Road? I get ticked off when stupid people do stupid things that are going to get them killed. But most of the time I'm cool.
Number One Pet Peeve: People who cling to bigoted opinions in the face of logical reasoning to the contrary.
Do You Sleep With Stuffed Animals? No, never have.
Who Is Your Favorite Poet? Shelley, Eliot and Byron are my top three.
Who Is Your Favorite Author? Beryl Markham, West with the Night.
Do You Eat The Stems Of Broccoli? No, just the treetops.
If You Could Have Any Job You Wanted, What Would It Be? I've had all the jobs I've ever wanted, and I know I'm fortunate.
If You Could Dye Your Hair Any Color, What Would It Be? I might be partial to a nice rich auburn. But I'm not certain if it would look right on me.
If You Could Have A Tattoo, What And Where Would It Be? Perhaps one of those multi-winged angels from the old biblical illuminations. On the back of my shoulder.
Have You Ever Been In Love? I am now, most definitely.
What Is On The Walls Of Your Bedroom? Not much (I need to do more decorating) -- a mirror, at the moment.
Is The Glass Half Empty Or Half Full? I've always thought that was a fairly stupid question.
What Is Your Favorite Snapple? Fruit punch.
Favorite Movies: Star Wars, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, King Kong.
Are You Righty, Lefty, Or Ambidextrous? Right handed.
Do You Type With Your Fingers On The Right Keys? Yes, I do.
What’s In Your Tape/CD Player Right Now? "Scary Monsters" by David Bowie.
What’s Under Your Bed? I sleep on a futon myself, these days... so nothing. Underneath the bed I bought for myself that Jack sleeps upon... my army rucksack, empty at the moment.
What Is Your Favorite Number? Nine. Not quite sure why, but it's my lucky number.
What Is Your Dream Car? Maybe a Jaguar; although Jack's Triumph motorcycle is a beautiful machine of the road, too.
Favorite Sport To Watch: Ice Hockey, when watched live. I also like Figure Skating.
Say One Nice Thing About The Person Who Sent This To You: How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... [grin] Ah, my Jacky. Sometimes, when I look at him and he doesn't see that I am...I see that noble look in his eyes, that certainty and strength that comes from knowing who he is, what Right is, and what a gentleman's duties are. So many people these days just don't know that. He gives me an ideal to look up to, even though I know he has his faults. He makes me want to be something better, something grander than I am.
Person You Are Sending This To Who Is Least Likely To Respond: I doubt that John Constantine would have the patience to take this survey, or the inclination to.
