Foot positions are used primarily for style. It is 
actually the correct way to dance. Although, for the 
average dancer (non competitor) foot positions may not 
matter. Unless you would like to add style & technique 
to the way you dance. If this is so try working these 
basic foot positions into your everyday dances.

*SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW ALL THE BASIC FOOT POSITIONS*


~First Position~ *Feet together, toes forward and slightly turned out.* (Some times referred to as home, center or together.)
~SECOND POSITION~ *Feet parallel, shoulder width apart.*
~THIRD POSITION~ *Heel to instep or ball to heel.* (Used in rock steps, shuffles, polkas, triple steps and basic swing.)
~EXTENDED THIRD POSITION~ *Feet apart heel pointing to instep.* (Should look like 3rd position with feet extended.)
~FOURTH POSITION~ *Walking step, forward or back and rock steps.*
~FIFTH POSITION~ *Heel to toe.* (Often used in a rock step.)
~EXTENDED FIFTH POSITION~ *Feet apart toe pointing right diagonal.* (Should look like 5th position with feet extended.)
