BOKHARA FIRST DAY COVERS:
Bokhara's first stamps, the Camel Post Definitive, were issued
in 1886, and the same designs are still issued today.
Many people in this modern era enjoy collecting First Day Covers, so in 1961, on the great occasion of granting of the vote to the great majority of the population, a specially printed FDC was issued.
We usually publish a special First Day Cover for each new stamp issue.
Bokhara follows the Sunni sect of Islam, and uses both the Hijri calendar as well as Gregorian. Hijri dates are usually shown in Arabic numerals.Many of our stamps show dates in Hijri, and fortunately for all, a web page is now available to convert Gregorian dates to Hijri and vice-versa.
