Chapter 2

"Hey, yo Nick!"
"Um. Yea I-I'm sorry. I coughsingcough." Nick threw his hand up on his forehead. Great cover up Carter, he scolded himself.
"You what?" She raised an eye brow.
"I sing," Nick looked down.
"And you thought I didn't know this already? Nick god I'm not that blonde!" Candice laughed.
Great actress Nick thought probably a huge fan.
"Nick don't look so down, I swear you look like someone died!" She hit his arm.
Well, even if she is a fan, she's still cool to hang with, he thought smiling.
"There you go! Now lets watch the 5 minutes that's left in this game. Good thing they went into over time or we would have missed the whole thing!" They didn't watch the rest of the game though, they just talked. At about Ten Nick's parents got home and Candice decided to leave.

"Hey Candice, wait up," Nick called running after her.
"You can call me Candi, ya know," she stopped and turned around.
"Yea OK, so Candice."
"Ha Nicky."
"It's Nick, NE ways. I just wanted to thank you for hanging out with me tonight. I had a lot of fun," he kissed her on the cheek. "See ya tomorrow!" He called running back to his house.
"Bye Nick," she whispered touching her cheek. Candice slowly walked back to her house. There was a note on her table.
"Man, I totally forgot about Manda." She mumbled reading the note, then she walked up the stairs and into her guest room, her best friend Amanda was sleeping in the bed. Amanda had just flown down from New York for a couple weeks and Candice had totally forgot about her.

- A week later-

"Hey Candi, wanna go to the movies with me tonight?" Nick asked over the phone earlier that day.
"Sure, who else is going?"
"I think Aj, he just broke up with his girlfriend, poor guy, and Brent and Sarah, I think that's all. You gotta say yes!"
"Oh OK since you begged me."
"OK, so at 4 cya then, bye." Nick hung up. Nick and Candice had become really good friends over the past week and they tried to hang out as much as time allowed.
"Who was that?" Amanda peered up from her magazine.
"No one, just Nick."
"I should have known," Amanda threw her hands up in the air.
"Funny Mandi," she sat next to her friend. "We haven't got to talk much this past week. So, how's everything with you and what's his face?"
Amanda rolled her eyes. "Well, we've broken up. He and I just.."
"Huh? You what?"
"We broke up."
"Ohmigod Manda! You can't keep a guy anymore. Anymore after Matt."
"It's just that they aren't Matt," Amanda sighed.
"That's good! Matt was a lying pig!" Candice watched Amanda's face fall, she could tell she still loved Matt, they were almost married in high school, but he was a pig. Candice hated him. She stopped, "Aj," she whispered.
"Huh? Aj who?"
"Oh nothing," a sly grin played on Candice's lips.
"Hey, I know, lets go clubbin," Amanda jumped up.
"I would love to, but I have plans with Nick. And You have got to come with!"
"OK I guess I'll go, but after we are going clubbing"

- That night at Nick's house -

"Hey come on in," he stepped to the side to let Brent, his best friend, in his house. Where is she? he glanced toward her house.
"Hey, sorry we're late, but Manda, here, had to look perfect." Candice walked passed Nick and into his house with Amanda by her side.
"That's k. Now lets go." Nick declared grabbing his keys.
"What about Sarah?" Aj asked sitting back down.
"Oh yea, I forgot about her."
"No, she can't go. I called her, like, 10 minutes ago. She's really sick." Brent informed everyone.
"Now lets go," Aj wined.
"Yea lets." Amanda agreed. They all hopped in Nick's Durango and drove to the closest movie theater.

"So, um, what movie do ya'll wanna see?" Candice asked looking up at what was playing.
"Um Aj?"
"Amanda?"
"Brent?"
"Hey don't pin this on me!" Brent threw his arms up in the air.
"Well, um, lets just go...to dinner," Nick grabbed Candice's hand.

- After dinner -

"So how did you like dinner?" Nick asked driving Candice home. Aj and Amanda has gone to visit some clubs and Brent decided he was tired.
"It was good, seeing how we ate at McDonalds." Candice smiled.
"Next time Aj is not choosing the restaurant." Nick laughed.
"Thank you anyways."
"You're welcome." He pulled into her drive way.
"I'll see you tomorrow," she opened her door.
"K see ya tomorrow, bye," he watched her walk to the door. "God, I'm falling for that girl." He mumbled pulling out of her driveway.
She stopped at the door and watched Nick pull into his own driveway. She walked into her house and sat at her window seat and watched Nick enter his house. "I'm falling in love with that guy," she whispered walking up to her room.

- That next morning -

"Hey Manda," Candice greeted her friend, as she grabbed a glass of milk.
"Hey," she drank her coffee.
"Late night?"
"Yup."
"So, how was Aj?" Candice laughed.
"I wouldn't know. Candi I'm not a whore."
"God, I was just playin!"
"So, anyways sup? With Nick and yourself?"
"Nothin," Amanda rolled her eyes. "God Manda we are just friends!"
"Oh yea, sure, I believe you!" Amanda laughed throwing her hands up.
"Your unbelievable Mandi, you know that!" Candice stood up and stomped off to her room. She still heard Amanda laughing her head off in the kitchen. Since Candice still hadn't unpacked all her stuff yet she decided she should do it.

Nick peeked through the crack of her door and watched her sing to Limp Bizkit and laughed to himself. She spun around. "Ohmigod, Nick you scared me to death," she turned down her music.
"Sorry," he looked at her with puppy dog eyes. He looked around her room at all the signed pictures she had up, one of Limp Bizkit, another of Carson Daly, and the last of Kid Rock. "What no backstreet boys?" He teased sitting next to her on her bed.
"Nah, those guys aren't so easy on the eyes," she pinched his cheeks.
"Really?" he folded his arms across his chest and pretended to pout.
"Aww poor Nicky," she grinned.
"I know." He stared at her. She looks so cute in overalls, kinda like Cinderella.
"Over active imagination?" She patted his back.

"You met Fred Durst," he asked standing up to look at the signed pictures on her wall.
"Yup last year at Family Values," she smiled hanging another picture on her wall.
"Who are they?" Nick asked pointing to the three people in the picture.
"Well, that's Amanda, me and Jeff."
"Boyfriend?" Nick raised an eyebrow.
"Nope, just a friend, well actually he's more like another brother that I don't want!"
"Oh." Nick smiled inside.
"Why? It's not like you don't have a girlfriend."
"Actually I don't," he frowned. "We broke up a month ago."
"I'm sorry" she hugged him.

-Flash back -

"Nick are you gonna break up with her?" Nick bit his bottom lip.
"I'm gonna try. Man Bri I-I love her" Brian frowned at his best friend.
"Dude, she's no good for you!"
"I know."
"Good luck." Nick took a deep breath and picked up the phone and punched in 7 numbers.

- End flashback -

Nick opened his eyes, Candice was looking at him oddly. "Nick you don't have to tell me about it, I'll understand."
"I'll talk to you later ok."
"Bye Nick." He left the room slamming the door hard behind him.
