TURNING BETWEEN CENTRES
MOUNTING THE WORKPIECE BETWEEN CENTRES
When mounting a workpiece between centres, apply a slight axial force against the headstock centre with the left hand, with the right hand rotate the tailstock hand wheel to locate the tailstock centre into the previously drilled centre hole.
TURNING BETWEEN CENTRES

When turning between centres ensure the cutting tool clears the catchplate drive dog.

Turning between centres can be a very slow operation unless Kosta drive centres are used. It is only necessary to turn between centres in the conventional manner when a high degree of concentricity must be achieved, example, when the turned product is to be passed on for final grinding.
