Part 121

The couple floated to the parking lot ready to rejoice in the fact that their dreams were coming true. It had been a hard road to reach this point but they both knew their world was finally perfect.

At the truck, Sarah leaned against it and Howie leaned against her. He brushed her hair back off her shoulder as he kissed her. "I never thought I could be any happier than I was the day you walked into my life, Sarah, but I am! The woman…the angel of my dreams…that I love more than life itself is giving me not one…but TWO wonderful miracles. I want the world to know how much I love you and I want to GIVE YOU the world."

Sarah put her hands on Howie’s. "I HAVE the world, Howie! I have you…the man of MY dreams. I have a group of SUPER friends, my family; and ALL of my dreams are coming true."

Leaning in to her, Howie’s lips touched hers softly, placing a feathery kiss on hers. "Angel," he whispered. "You are my heart and soul…. my reason for being."

Sarah’s tears began as she gazed into his eyes. "D, I can’t imagine my life without you."

"You’ll never have to try, Angel." Placing his hands on her stomach, Howie said, "This is forever, Sarah. Now, let’s go celebrate."

"I need to go by the Youth Center, D, and do a couple other things before I head to ‘Tabu’," she said as she kissed his chest.

"Are you gonna be long?"

"A couple hours. I promised Rachel I’d stop in and look over the books for her."

"What else are you going to do?"

Sarah grinned impishly, "That’s for ME to know."

Howie laughed, "You’re up to something!"

"Lovin’ you," said Sarah giving him a quick kiss. "Let me go so…"

"You can hurry back to me. Be careful, Angel. You had precious cargo to start with but now it’s priceless."

Sarah rolled her yes and groaned, "You ARE NOT going to start treating me like an invalid, are you?"

Laughing, Howie said, "No, I’m going to treat you like my wife who is pregnant with MY children. Sarah, I’m not treating you any different. I always worry about you and NOW, I have another reason."

"I know. I’ll see you at ‘Tabu’…Sweet D."

Howie helped her into the truck and sent her on her way. Now was his chance to surprise her so he ran to the corvette and rushed to the mall to pick up a few things for her. He knew exactly what he was going to do for her and he didn’t have much time to get it done.

As Sarah headed to the Youth Center, she reached for her cell phone. Out of sheer instinct, she dialed her mother’s number. When her father answered, she was completely thrown off.

"Hello."

"Daddy?" her voice cracked.

"Hey there, baby girl. Are you okay?"

"I’m fine…it’s twins and they are Howie’s."

"That’s WONDERFUL, baby. How did Howie take the news?"

"With a resounding ‘I told you so’," laughed Sarah. There was a long pause before Sarah lost control. "Daddy, I miss her."

Softly, Mr. Taylor said, "I know, Sarah. I do too but she’s still in our hearts. Be happy because she would be!"

Sarah had heard something in her father’s voice that scared her. She knew something was wrong but she didn’t know what it was. "I love you, Daddy. Please, take care of yourself and I’ll call you tomorrow."

Sarah hung up and pulled into the Youth Center parking lot. She wiped the tears away and looked down at the phone. "You idiot! Your mother is dead!"

As she walked into the youth center, several of the older girls spotted Sarah and within seconds, she was completely surrounded by the kids. She ended up spending a lot longer at the youth center than she had planned and wasn’t able to get the things for Howie that she had planned to get.
