Part 284
Becca, Julie and Lynne were curled up on the various chairs, each with a bowl of ice cream when suddenly Julie waved her hand.
"I almost forgot to tell you!"
"Tell me what?" Becca asked, licking her spoon to get the last drops of ice cream.
"I talked to Sarah this afternoon while you were napping."
"Is everything all right?"
"Oh, yeah, of course. It turns out she's dancing in the show again tonight."
"Sarah? What happened?" Becca frowned. "She's not well enough to do that."
"Well, she must be," Julie shrugged. "She said something about one of the dancers being fired. You know anything about that?"
"Not sure, but I guess I'll hear all about it next week. And what do you mean, 'again'?"
"She danced last night, too. I just assumed you already knew about it."
"No, but then we really didn't have much time to talk this morning. I was too much of a mess. I'll have to get the scoop the next time we talk."
"Julie, did you send the pictures to the list yet?" Lynne asked.
"Yep, sent them this afternoon," she laughed. "Bec, wanta check your mail and see the explosion?"
Becca rolled her eyes. "Guys, I'm not sure I'm ready for this."
"Sure you are," said Lynne. "You're married to Nick, aren't you? That alone should prove that you can handle anything."
"Brat!" Becca said, throwing a pillow at her. "Be good, or I'll tell Alex and Kevin that you kiss their posters goodnight every night."
"You wouldn't dare!" she gasped.
Becca smiled innocently. "Try me."
Julie was giggling as she logged onto the archive site for the email list. "Hey, baby, you got mail," Kevin's voice called out and all three fell over laughing. "Kaboom!" she said dramatically. "Oh god, Bec, you have to see this!"
Becca pushed slowly out of her chair and made her way to look over Julie's shoulder. "Oh dear lord, 150 emails? Julie, there are only 12 of us on the list!"
"Well, my dear, get comfy. Let's start at the beginning and answer some questions."
The three sat till after midnight sending out letters to everyone, and even chatting for a while in the archive chat room. Finally, the last list member logged off and Becca began to sag wearily.
"C'mon, cupcake, let's get you into bed." Julie gave her a hand and helped her up where she'd gotten stiff from sitting.
"I'm going home," Lynne said with a yawn. "Bec, I'll be over around ten to check your blood pressure. I have to set up the chart Dr. Anthony left for me. If you're up to it, maybe we'll go out for lunch. We can give you the tour that you missed last night and get some color back in your face."
"And kill some time and take my mind off Nick…"
Lynne pasted a shocked look on her face. "Ya think?! Gee, that never even occurred to me."
"Sure, whatever you say," Becca laughed. "Thank you, Lynne. You, too, Julie."
"Not a problem, girlie, go get some sleep. Garrett will be up before you know it wanting to eat, so sleep while you can."
Becca wandered off to her bed with a smile, while hundreds of miles away, Nick sat wide awake staring at the ceiling of Sarah's hospital room
