Part 411
"Are you sure you’re going to be all right?" Becca asked Nick for at least the tenth time in the last half-hour.
"Bec, it’s babysitting, not brain surgery," Nick grinned. "Besides, you won’t be gone that long and I have the other guys here to help."
Becca looked from Nick to Kevin, to Brian, to Howie, and finally rested on AJ. AJ leaned against the doorway, looking over the top of his dark glasses with a grin. Looking back at Nick she shuddered visibly. Motioning with her finger, she waited for Nick to lean closer.
When he did she whispered, "That’s what I’m afraid of."
"Baby, we’ll be fine. If you don’t get going you’re going to be late. Besides, he’s asleep. He’ll probably sleep the whole time you’re gone which means that you’re worrying for nothing."
"Bec, come ON!" Sarah called from the door. "We need to get out of here before we’re spotted and followed."
"You’ve got Lynne’s flight number?" Kevin asked with a frown.
"Boo, I have all five pieces of paper that you’ve given me this afternoon. I’m giving one to Bec, one to Billy and one to Raoul. That way if we get separated in the crowd, we can find her. I’ll even give one to the driver."
Kevin’s face flooded with relief. "That’s a good idea, thanks baby," he sighed.
Sarah rolled her eyes. He’d never even realized that she was pulling his leg. God, he was smitten. "Bec, please?"
"Okay, okay, I’m coming." She was almost to the door when she turned around one last time. "I almost forgot something."
"Bec, would you just go already?" Nick groaned.
Becca continued as if Nick had never interrupted her. "I left a bottle in the fridge just in case you need it. You can-"
"I know, I can warm it up under running warm water, not the microwave. Bec, get OUT!" Nick laughed, pushing her toward the door.
"A bottle?" asked AJ. "But I though Bec was-"
"She is," Nick said. "She left a bottle of breast milk."
"Oh." AJ thought for a moment and then shook his head. He opened his mouth to ask a question, but then thought better of it and closed it.
"What?" Howie asked him.
"Nothing, man. I just – I just don’t even wanta know how she got it in the bottle in the first place."
The other guys cracked up, hooting at the expression on AJ’s face. Nick looked at his watch. Not bad. The girls had been gone two minutes, only twenty-eight or so left to go.
