States of Cell
Cell is the creation of former Red Ribon leader Dr.Gero (Android 20). Dr.Gero took DNA samples from some great fighters includung Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Freeza and King Cold. In DBZ we see many forms of Cell:

Imperfect Cell
This is cell's first and least powerful form he is weaker than andriod 17 but after absorbing many humans easily overcomes 17 and Piccolo but struggles against 16. In this state he is like a giant lizard with a sponge mouth. His needle tail sucks energy from his enemies. |
Cell stage 2
After absorbing android 17 and a lot more people he becomes more powerful and looks more like a human. In this form he can take on 16 but gets beaten up easily by Vegeta and Trunks but Vegeta being filled with pride lets cell absorb 18 to reach perfect form. |
Perfect Cell
In this State he resembles a human and is more powerful, he easily overcomes USSJ Trunks as he has a much greater speed advantage so Trunks was unable to connect with any of his punches, this is the form that got beaten by SSJ2 Gohan. |
Ultimate Perfect Cell/ Super Perfect Cell
This is the state that Future Trunks said was too powerful for Cell to control. In this state he looks almost the same as Perfect Cell. The only differences are that he grows taller with huge muscles and has bigger lips. His power also increases greatly. |
