Goku (Son Goku), originally a 3rd class from the planet Vegeta, made his way onto the scene in the beginning of Dragon Ball. But, in Dragon Ball Z, he first showed up going to a get together at Master Roshi's (Kamesennin) House. Only to have his son Gohan (Son Gohan) kidnapped by his evil brother Raditz (Raditsu).

This was the point where Goku realized where he was from and what adventures and conflicts lay ahead. After battling with Vegeta (Bejiita) and narrowly escaping death, he found out that there was an alien even stronger than Vegeta named Frieza (Furiiza).

That's right! He 'narrowly escaped death'! Damn straight! 3rd class piece of...

Needless to say, Goku came out on top after travelling to Namek and defeating Frieza who was collecting the Dragon Balls of Namek, the home planet of Piccolo (Pikoro).

There are a few battles that came after, namely with Frieza, who survived their last encounter, and a new creature named Cell who was created from cells of all the Z Warriors (Z Senshi).

But, Goku ended up dying during the Cell Saga. He kills himself in a vast explosion in an attempt to destroy Cell for good. This noble act left Gohan in tears and his friends in utter disbelief. Unfortunately, his sacrifice was in vain. Cell came back even stronger and killed Trunks (Mirai no Torankusu).

Vegeta had a hissy fit and got his arm busted in the process. >:)

Goku eventually begins to train the newly reincarnated Oob (Uubu), who was originally Majin Buu. And then GT, the crappiest series ever, begins to start...
