JAMES WILLIAM COLLIER
Son of ??

James William Collier is said to have arrived in America shortly after the Revolution as a runaway. He first appears in the 1790 census of Burke County, North Carolina.
His wife was Mary. He purchased 400 acres on August 26, 1794 and in April 1798, he bought 50 adjacent acres.
He was a Methodist minister. He died March 07, 1820. They had nine children:

First Child of James & Mary Collier

Robert Collier was born July 22, 1789 in 1813 he moved to Warren County, Tennessee. He married Mary Ann Stiles Reed; In 1816 died October 15, 1875 in Warren County, Tennessee.

Deed from Robert Collier, Twenty eight day of October, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight-hundred and thirty-one of the state of Tennessee, sold to George Collier of the county of Burke, state of North Carolina, his share of land willed to him by his father, James for the sum of fifty dollars.

Second Child of James and Mary Collier

Elizabeth Collier born December 12, 1791 Burke County, North Carolina. Married Reverend Joseph Putt; died March 12, 1833 buried in Collier Methodist Church Cemetey.

Third Child of James and Mary

George Collier was born March 03, 1793 in Burke County, North Carolina. He was ordained as a Methodist minister when he was 18.
He married Martha Ann James in 1813. She died in childbirth 1831. And he married Nancy, He is said to have 21 children. In 1833 George gave the land to the Methodist church in Lenoir North Carolina. He moved to Cherokee County, Alabama. About 1836, he moved to Ellis County, Texas After the Civil War, where he died February 12, 1872

Fourth Child of James and Mary

Benjamin Collier was born June 01, 1796 in North Carolina. He moved to Pike County, Alabama, He married Elizabeth Barkley. December 07, 1822 died November 30, 1861; buried in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Orion Pike County, Alabama.

Fifth Child of James and Mary Collier

Abraham Collier was born 1799 Burke County, moved to Shelby County, Alabama after his father death. married 1827 Shelby County, Alabama to Kizziah Bagwell. She was born about 1797 Shelby County, Died February 12, 1877 Sturgis, Mississippi. Their four oldest children were born in Shelby County. They moved to Choctaw County about 1836, and the youngest son was born there. Abraham died September 20, 1845 and is buried in the Blackwood Cemetery, Winston County.

Deed from Abraham Collier Shelby County, State of Alabama for the sum of one hundred dollars, sold his share of land willed to him by his father, {James} to George Collier in the county of Burke, state of North Carolina, on the 30th day of October in the year of our Lord, eighteen-hundred and thirity-three

Deeds from Abraham & Robert, Mary Collier{their mother} Hosea and Mary {polly} {Collier} Bradford signing over their interest to George Collier mention the ninth moity, affirming the total of nine children.

Mary {Polly} Collier was born November 07, 1801 in North Carolina married Hosea Bradford. August 13, 1824 Burke County: died July 11,1869 Buried in Collier Methodist Church Cemetery.

Seventh Child of James and Mary

Nancy Collier Born July 04, 1804 Burke North Carolina, married Lawrence "Larry" Freeman. August 12, 1822 Burke County, moved to Owen County, Indiana. Prior to 1840. Nancy died January 23, 1892: buried in Heddings Chapel Church Cemetery, Owen County.

Eighth Child of James and Mary

Margaret Collier was born about 1807, married James Freeman about 1827, in North Carolina. Then moved to Owen County prior to 1840. Margaret died September 12, 1879. Buried in the Methodist Cemetery of Ellettsville. Monroe County, Indiana.

Ninth Child of James and Mary

Myra Collier born about 1810, Burke County, married John Cannon about 1833. Then moved to Cherokee County, prior to 1842
