Historical and Famous People & Hemp

George Washington is at the top of this list for a number of reasons. He was the first president of our country as well as being one of the most successful generals in our military history. Washington was indeed a hemp farmer and he also cultivated marijuana for his own personal use. He used the plants to make clothes and rope and various other products that he found hemp to be particularly useful for.

Thomas Jefferson, known as The Spirit of American Liberty, was also involved in marijuana cultivation and use. Jefferson used hemp for all sorts of things including, but not limited to, making paper, clothes and rope. Jefferson even praised hemp in many of his writings.

George Washington Carver was the greatest agricultural researcher in American history. He showed you could make almost anything from farm products and agricultural waste. Carver developed hundreds of products out of the peanut. Henry Ford was a friend and used Carver's ideas in building his early Ford cars. Carver also cultivated marijuana and hemp. He found that there were several uses for hemp including a way to make a fuel from it.
Of course no list of famous people and their involvement with pot would be complete without Bob Marley. For those of you who live in a cave, Bob Marley is a music legend. His genre of music was reggae, but almost everyone who hears any of Marley's music finds it enjoying. Bob Marley was an advocate of pot and he threw caution to the wind when it came to smoking it.
