Many on the
right contend that it is unpatriotic to accuse this administration of incompetence and
arrogance during a time of war.
This is nonsense.
- Our
current troubles in Iraq stem from incompetence!
Most
experts and military observers concur. Too
few troops and too little
research. This
administration ignored expert advice
and now must
react to ongoing disasters instead of proactively winning the
peace.
They made inappropriate assumptions
on insufficient evidence. They underestimated
the relative difficulty of their constantly-changing
"mission" and have yet to develop any specific objectives or workable
exit strategy. This shoddy work has cost lives.
What could you call this except...
incompetence? And while Bush and his cronies
are still in denial, the casualties continue to
mount.

If one does
not feel Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld are arrogant,
they should pay more attention. (It's no secret.) It's
easy to prove.
None of these three have exhibited any diplomatic acumen
or the ability to learn from errors.
There is no point in castigating "the
left" for pointing out incompetence and hubris. It's our duty as Americans
to point out obvious threats to national security.
Even if they reside in the White House.

Constructive criticism is responsible civic
commitment. We need more, not less. When things are going wrong, it's
time to speak up and find a way to set things right. Pretending all is well and
denying that we have a problem is no solution.
Not only is it not right, it's not smart.
