The Rock

Able Boatswain Troublemaker "Rocky" Thompson

Thomas "Rocky" Thompson, may seem to be a young high school student, yet that is not the story. He is really an acute observer of political and social events and was the basis for the popular "James Bond" series of films. His life can not be contained within this capsule. Introduced to Ship 1 SEA RAPTOR in April, 1998, Thomas "Rocky" Thompson (AKA The Mad Hatter, AKA Rocko the Great, AKA Robbie, AKA Rocky the Flying Squirrel), has attained great success as a member of this program. As well as the ship's webmaster (1999-2000), he has served as the ship's yeoman (2000) and the ship's boatswain (2000-2001). In November 1999, Rocky was a member of the winning team in the Southwestern Regional Rendezvous (SEAWOLF) with other SEA RAPTOR members Katie Hagen and Brian Rutecki. In June 2000, Rocky completed SEAL training in the Floriida Keys as one of two Sea Scouts in the nation to be members of the crew of the U.S.S. Topeka Atomic submarine for a one week deployment. Soon to complete the requirements of Quartermaster rank (March 2001), the best is yet to come from this infamous member of Sea Scouts, B.S.A. and valued element in the SEA RAPTOR team.

We were lucky to get this picture of Rocky in his "Pith" helmet. He had just returned from Safari in the swamp with Eloise and Alphonse. The helmet is required for two reasons. 1. To keep Eloise from putting termites in his ears for later snacks and 2.To keep Alphonse from thumping him on the head for wrong answers. Da Rock excels in the "random" ring buoy toss. The only one to beat him in this contest is Katie who holds the record for saving the storage container. Check to see if he is alive next week since that will be a wonder, especially if Chad reads all this to Eloise.
