 Downloading and Extracting Files Correctly
This is a quick tutorial to help you understand how to properly download and extract files correctly, you should use this method for my site, but also for any other sim sites with zip files.
- First, make sure you have winzip on your computer, if you don’t download it from www.winzip.com
- Then create a new folder on your desktop, or in you’re my documents folder. To do this, right click and select new, then new folder. Name it ‘Sim Downloads’ or ‘Downloads for The Sims’ or something like that where you can store your downloads.
- Now download a file from the site, and save it to your downloads folder which you just created.
- Now double click on the zip icon for the file in which you just downloaded. Winzip should open, and if you don’t have the registered version then press I agree.
- Next you should should press the extract button and type in c:/program files/maxis/the sims/downloads
- Congratulations, you now know how to download and extract files correctly!
*TIP*
To make it easier to organise your downloads if you have quite a lot, create a folder in the sims/downloads section for each website you download from.
Eg. Make a folder called ‘Welldressedsim Downloads’ if you have downloads from that website. And then simply just put all your downloads from that site into that folder.
