The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.
So the man yelled, "God,
speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky.
But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around
and said,"God let me see you." And a star shined
brightly.
And, the man shouted,"God show me a miracle." And, a life was born.
But, the man did not notice.
So, the man cried out in despair,"Touch me God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.But, the man brushed the butterfly away...
I asked the Lord
for a bunch of fresh flowers
but
instead he gave me an ugly cactus
with many thorns.
I asked the
Lord
for some beautiful butterflies
but instead he gave me many
ugly and dreadful worms.
I was threatened.
I was
disappointed.
I mourned.
But after many days, suddenly,
I
saw the cactus bloom
with many beautiful flowers
and those worms
became
beautiful
butterflies
flying in the wind.
God's way is the best
way."

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach
with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from
his life. For each scene,
he noticed tow sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonged to him, and
the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before
him, he looked back at
the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many
times along the path
of his life there was only one set of footprints. He
also noticed that it
happend at the very lowest and saddest times in his
life.
This is really bothered him and he quesitoned the
Lord about it. "Lord,
you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd
walk with me all
the way. But I ahve noticed that during the most
troublesome times
in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't
understand why
when I needed you most, you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you
see only one set of footprints, it was then that I
carried you."

And dine with Jesus as your host.

eternally,
All you must do is....R.S.V.P.

The Difference
I got up early one morning
And rushed into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
That I didn’t have time to pray.Problems just tumbled about me,
And heavier came each task,
"Why doesn’t God help me?" I wondered,
He answered, "You didn’t ask."I wanted to see joy and beauty,
But the day toiled on, gray and bleak,
I wondered why God didn’t show me,
He said, "But you didn’t seek."I tried to come into God’s presence;
I used all my keys at the lock,
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child, you didn’t knock."I woke up early this morning,
And paused before entering the day,
I had so much to accomplish
That I had to take time to pray.
We learn Courage, when we face danger,
We learn Patience, when we endure suffering,
We learn Tenderness, when we taste pain,
We discover True Friendship, when false ones forsake us,
We learn to prize Freedom, when we are in danger of losing it.
The Wonders of Creation
An evolutionist once noted that, "if indeed the Creator exists, he seems to be inordinately fond of beetles," because he made so many of them. Our Creator is fond of beetles, and everything else he has made. He said it was all "very good." (Genesis 1:31)
God's creation is living proof of his mastery of life and sustains it, whether on a windswept mountain, a parched dessert or in the deepest ocean abyss.
He can make it beautiful or bizarre, robust or fragile, "larger life" or microscopically tiny.
But always perfect, intricate and functional.
Through the wonders of creation, God has shown us He loves life.God also loves you and wants you to have life.
Not just for a few short years, but life that lasts forever.God wants you to have this life so much that "He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16).
We, the created have never been able to make life.
Not even a lowly beetle.
But, because of our Creator's love, we are given life that will last forever.Humbling, isn't it?
~ Excerpt from "Evolution: Fact of Faith," The Plain Truth, August 1994.
The best thing to give your enemy is forgiveness;
To your opponent, tolerance;
To a friend, your heart;
To a child, a good example;
To your father, deference;
To your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you;
To yourself, respect;
To all men, charity;
To God, obedience.
I believe the single most significant decision I can make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my past, my education, my bankroll, my successes or failures . . . what other people think of me or say about me ... It alone fuels my fire or assaults my hopes. ~ Charles R. Swindoll, "Strenthening Your Grip"
A lot of good could be accomplished in this world if nobody got the credit for it.
So you are having trouble?
You feel cheated and abandoned by God?
Remember: The eagle stirs up the nest in order that the young might learn to fly! Your trouble may be your greatest opportunity!Go down to the beach and watch the mountainous waves come crashing in and you will see two ways to meet a wave. The frightened, soul sees the monster wave looming, mounting threatening. He turns, stumbling through the foamy shallows, and being too slow, he is overtaken, upset, flattened and sent sputtering in the surf by the liquid mountain.
But farther in the deep, you see a skillful rider of the surf who watches as it builds, swells and instead of running from the wave, he rides it! Instead of being made low, he is raised high and carried far!
Every trouble has vast built-in opportunities to grow, to learn, to serve, or to be cleansed. Imagination can turn your bed of trouble into fruitful pasture. Your time of lying low can be your mourning of spiritual refreshment.
~ Robert H. Shuller, "Life's Not Fair, but God is Good."
Create a Better World
I saw them tearing a building down,
a gang of men in a dusty town,
With a ho, a heave ho, and a lusty yell,
they swung a beam and a side wall fell.I asked the foreman if these men were as skilled
as the men he'd hire if he were to build.
He laughed and said, "Oh, no indeed! Common labor is all I need.These men can wreck in a day or two what
builders have taken years to do.
So I asked myself as I went my way,
Which kind of role am I going to play?Am I the builder who builds with care,
Measuring life by the rule and square?
Or am I the wrecker who walks the town,
Content with the role of tearing down?
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is wrong, help me to pardon;
Where there is doubt, let me show faith;
Where there is despair, let me have hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying, that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
