Hello Everyone, this is our monthly Newsletter for Summer of 2006. It is HOT HOT HOT. We have to keep these dogs cool. Remember if you will be going away during the holidays it is a good idea to book now, we will fill up fast!!

We are starting up Doggie Day Care. I think this is such a great opportunity for those of you that have to drive into Dallas to work, and end up with a 10 hour day. Just think how much fun your dog will have out here, on our 10 acre Ranch, running around playing with his/her new friends. Dogs will "nap" for about 2 hours in the afternoon, but will then be able to play for one hour play sessions and will be ready for snuggle time and sleep when you come to pick them up. We will also work with your dog if you need us to do training with him while he is here. Contact me for more information on this. Group Classes are starting up. I still have a few days open to do a class near your home. Contact me for more information on this.

We are going to be expanding here at the Ranch in the next few months. I have started planning, for lots of new play equipment for the doggie yards. We will be putting in tunnels, and a few swimming pools and a deck/sleeping outside area for the dogs. I have about a 1/2 acre area that I am going to landscape and really make into a nice play area. This will stimulate the dogs mind and body. Check back for updates and pictures.

We will also be building cabins for those dogs that stay with us for boarding. The dogs will have an indoor 4x5 area and a large 20x32 private yard to play in. I will start with 6 Cabins and will be expanding within the year. I will post pictures of this as we are working on it.

Check back as this page will be added to during the month.~~Heather

Keeping the dogs cool during the hot Texas summers

Lets face it...it is hot here. You have to make sure that your dogs and cats stay cool...if they are outside during the day when you are gone at work, you will need to take precautions to keep them cool. Your dog might start digging up your pretty yard to get to the cool damp dirt. They could also get heet stroke, this is very bad for dogs and people alike.

Keeping Cool

If your dog is outside you will have to make sure he has lots of shade. Also lots of water, I have kids plastic swimming pools for my dogs to get in and cool off, along with lots of drinking buckets. If you have a patio, you can get misters that will cool the area very nicely.

Remember that your dog will not want to eat as much when he is hot. Also it is very bad for your dog to eat a bunch and then drink alot. The food will swell in his belly and will cause bloat...this will kill a dog within about 5-30 min. I recommend feeding them at night when it has cooled off or small snacks throughout the day.

Health concerns in the summer

There are many things that can harm our pets during the summer. If you think that your pet is suffering from any of these...get him to the vet fast...there are many cases of pets dieing in the summer from something that could have been prevented.

• Dehidration

• Heat stroke

• Bloat

You need to research the signs of these things so you will know if your pet is sick.
