July 9, 2000 1:33 a.m. I have been extremely busy with my move back to Chicago, so I really haven't had time to myself. Friday was my last day at Carlos O'kellys, and as I walked up to the restaurant, Draper was sitting outside with Mike. We were all smoking when Draper and Mike started talking about all of the pranks they had done to the people that had left the restaurant. "It's tradition.." said Draper. But, I wasn't too worried. I was closing the store…and most of the boys would be gone by the time I was out of there. It was extremely busy, but it was awesome. Order after order kept coming in, but Donny and I were awesome. We finished cooking the food on our tickets faster than the servers could punch in the meals. Draper and I closed the kitchen, and cleaned the area at around 11:30 p.m. I walked out the door with a big smile on my face. I don't really know why, but I know that I am leaving this job with a positive feeling. After driving Draper home, I came home to the apartment, and Cassandra was in bed. She shortly came into the kitchen because we were going to go to the grocery. Well, we were going to finally trade in the cans, so I started to get them. Our other roommate, Mike, of course asked where we were going. I didn't want him to go to the grocery with us, so I said that we were headed off to Walmart…in some attempt to get him not to go, I said we were looking for fabric. He asked if he could come. What else could anyone say but.. "Sure." UGH!!! I tried to not let the fact that I didn't like…nor care for him…to show. I have been extremely civil to him the entire summer….no matter how annoying…ignorant….annoying…selfish…rude…annoying…stubborn…etc …etc…annoying he was. But, I just kept telling myself that it didn't really matter…so I just ignored him. :) We all got back to the apartment, and Cassandra and I went to my room. I started to pack. We figured that if we waited just a little, Mike would soon fall asleep, and we could head off to the grocery in peace. It worked!!! I packed my clothes, and he was dead on the couch. We left, and Cassandra spent $90.00 in grocerys. OMG!! But it was supposed to last for the next four weeks, so I guess that it wasn't that bad. Back at the apartment, we made smoothies and woke Mike up so that he would go to his room and we wouldn't disturb him. Cassandra and I stayed up till 3:00 a.m. Falling asleep at the wheel isn't exactly one of my favorite activities, so I thought that it might be good to get some sleep before my six hour drive to Chicago. Cassandra and I slept on the fouton for the last time. :( |
