Races, Graduation, Hypertech Chip, and Random Thoughts: 10/7/01 - 6/25/02 |
10/7/01: |
Well as of today I have had the SHO for 5 days now and I am still so
very impressed with it. It has the best ride to it, smooth like a luxury car but yet firm like a sports car. I went to school with it tuesday night and showed it to a few of my friends and my friend Pat was probably the most into it. I started it up and let it rumble a bit then i showed him the engine and he couldnt believe the size of the manifold on it! So it is very impressive to say the least. Im gettin used to the clutch on it and shifting is a breeze. I also found out some new info about my car also that i stuck up at the top with all that other info. Well i hope to have my new pics up soon, and im workin on getting $45 so I can buy a stupid wire harness for my cd player so i can actually hook it up and crank my 12" subs.
10/15/01: First Race |
Today I got my subs to work and the harness I got was only $18 since I got it from Best Buy. So everything is sounding great. I also had some fun with this car on the 12th (Friday) because I raced a blue '99 Mustang GT 4.6 and won, it was close at the start
but by the time I hit 4th gear I was gone! The two guys in the stang couldn't believe it! Needless to say, that was a good night for me! Im still in awe about this car...It is faster than a 4.6 stang and gets better gas mileage....I care about that because I cant afford gas anymore lol, im a little poor...so the 22-24mpg it gets in the city is amazing. (That is a bit more than SHO's are listed at for mpg, i think stock runs at about 21) I spent my last $10 on gas today so the pictures will have to wait but they will be here soon. I am also going to add some links on this page too. Look for those at the bottom.
12/28/01: The Z28 |
Tonight I was out on a date (had to throw that in) and we were
following this guy in a black Z28, he was driving slow so I decided that passing
him might be an idea, but as I went to pass him he sped up, so we both gunned it
and got up to about 65 or 70 and I eventually pulled ahead and got in front of him.
I got in the far turn lane and as he passed I gave him a wave of approval and turned. So Im damn proud of my little SHO for
holding off a Camaro Z28, it is just damn fast and thats all I can say, well except that I scared the hell out of Kayleigh (my date) but she'll be ok.
5/19/02: Graduation! and 100k |
Graduation day finally came and I actually graduated. And also as another milestone the SHO hit 100k at 4:32pm. I was driving over to my friend Josh's so we could go hit some graduation parties. As of right now, the steering sounds like it needs some lube and the chassis makes some noise on bumps. Also i think my linkage may be bad on the clutch, it has trouble going into 1st, 2nd, 3rd and reverse. I will have all that checked out soon and I am almost dead certain that i will be ordering a superchip soon! Other than all of that she is still running like a dream. Also I have replaced some of the inside lights with green bulbs to make everything look green and I put in a new pair of fog lights that I got, they are Navigator UltraSlims I guess and they were like $55. They have a nice glow to them and they appear green on the ground in front of my car while i am driving. They put out a whole lot more light than the stock SHO fog lights do. So things are looking pretty slick with it. I should really get tinted windows though....and i think while i am having my cd player cleaned, i will paint the brake calipers yellow or green? hmmm tough call.
5/25/02: Harlan County |
This one is just for bragging rights......I was down camping by Harlan County Reservoir (in southcentral Nebraska) all this week as a sort of vacation after graduation. I met this guy named Steve, he had a purple Camaro Z28, with the LT1 in it. Im guessing it was like a '97 or so. Well anyway, this other guy asked him what he thought about racing me and my SHO, he said that he didnt come down there to race anyone, he just came down to relax. So I would say that a few hours passed and i was talkin to my friend Johnny's little brother who happened to hear what Steve said after he declined a race...I guess Jake (the little brother) was standing with a group of guys when Steve came up and said I wouldn't race that guy anyway, he would beat me. Sorry to brag but that was pretty cool. Haha :)
6/25/02: Hypertech Chip |
Today my hypertech power chip came in and it took me like 2 hours because working on a computer tucked away under the dash isnt as easy as one may think. The bracket they gave me leaves absolutely no room for any type of tool to tighten that bolt hanging from above the computer. But despite my massive complaining and bitching the chip went in fairly good. And now my car has more power in the lower rpm range where it used to struggle almost as much as my 4 cylinder mustang. And instead of having the secondary runners open up at 4000 rpm, they now do it at about 3500 and throw you back in your seat. I have myself one speedy little car. It has some crazy torque steer too, floor it in first and then throw it in second and nail the gas and the car jumps to the right. Despite my clutch going out, the car is still doing great...just in need of an oil change.
Here are two of my four cars....The 95 SHO MTX and my 92 Mustang LX
These are after I cut out my headlight covers to give my car's headlights a more ominous look
These were taken down in Harlan County, Nebraska while some friends of mine and I were enjoying our post High School freedom. I installed my new foglights while I was down there. I also have some pics of my light covers and just a couple random ones of the sky for some reason, the grey skies being from Lincoln, NE where I live, and the nice looking sky is from down in Harlan. I guess they just look cool to me. Enjoy!
