Indian head massage has been practiced in India for over one thousand years and was originally used by women to keep their hair thick and healthy through stimulation of the scalp. The technique has been developed to include face, neck, shoulders and upper arms. It is a simple yet effective therapy that can provide relief from tension, aches and pains, and particularly from the symptoms of stress brought on by modern life. Massaging the neck and shoulders concentrates on the two areas of the body which feel the most strain. When we first stress or anxiety the tissue covering the skull is the first to tighten and this can lead to headaches and neck problems. Indian Head Massage promotes a sense of calm, improves mental concentration and alertness, relieves anxiety, tiredness, depression and insomnia.
