Chapter 25
Kevin and Fiona found Howie bent over in laughter, something they had not expected considering his demeanor when he answered the door. Kristina was standing at the edge of the pool laughing hysterically as someone frantically thrashed about in the water, cursing.
"What’s going on guys?" Kevin asked.
Kristina turned and ran to Fiona, hugging her tightly. "Hey sweetie. Sorry I haven’t called, I’ve been busy!"
Fiona smiled. "I see. But who is that.."
"Can’t you get better control over your woman, Howie?" Nick said as he pulled himself from the pool. "She pushed me in."
"Well, you were going to throw her in! Looks like you got what you deserved" Howie said as he continued to laugh at the sight of Nick soaked to the bone.
Kristina saw all of the color pass from Fiona’s face and realized it was because of Nick. Kevin saw it too and went to her, wrapping his arms around her protectively.
Nick strolled over to all of them and shook the excess water from his hair.
"Watch out, Nick. You are getting us all wet" Kevin said with tension in his voice. He had seen the way Fiona was staring at Nick and he didn’t like it one bit.
He knew that she had a fascination with Nick but didn’t realize that it was as strong as it now seemed to be. He could feel the ‘green eyed monster’ rearing it’s ugly head and tried to suppress his emotions.
"Sorry, Kev."
It was then that Nick realized that the cute little blonde that Kevin had his arms wrapped around had not taken her beautiful blue eyes off of him. He felt an instant erection at the way her eyes undressed him and her lips trembled as he moved closer.
"You must be, Fiona" he whispered, taking her hand and kissing it softly. He smirked as she allowed him to hold her hand even after he had finished speaking. He had her in his spell and he wondered silently if he could steal her away from Kevin.
As Fiona stood silent, Kevin answered for her. "Yes, this is Fiona, MY girlfriend" he said as he shot Nick a glaring look, as if daring him to even try to put the moves on her.
Kristina turned to Howie, an amused look on her face, as Howie laughed at the exchange between the three. He whispered into her ear, "We better break this up before Nick and Kev go to blows over your friend."
"I don’t think she’s in the right frame of mind to make a good decision right now either. She’s shell shocked."
Taking Fiona’s hand, Kristina pulled her towards the house. "Excuse us guys, we have a lot to catch up on. Anyone want a beer when we return?"
"I do" the three of them chorused.
"Coming right up!" Kristina said as she and Fiona went into the house, shutting the glass sliding door behind them.
