Director/Manager Software Quality Assurance
The selected Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for
developing a QA team and infrastructure that will support the overall
goal of delivering industrial strength, high quality commercial
software to our customers. It will be imperative the QA team work
collaboratively with engineering to improve the overall development
process. The opportunity is for a seasoned QA Manager to focus the
efforts of the QA team and develop the necessary systems and procedures
to give Senior Management an accurate assessment of the risk and
quality of the product.
These objectives must be delivered in a cutting edge, extreme programming
and iterative development environment for multiple customers across
multiple platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
Verify that software applications are coded to specification and
delivered in a high quality state to our customers
Create and execute test cases with test data and document test results
for all testing phases (functional, integration, regression and
system testing)
Conduct test case reviews with Software/Application Engineers and
IT Managers
Conduct test plan reviews
Represent QA in project team meetings and communicate results and
risks
Work with software/application engineers, QA testers and technical
writers as needed to ensure quality and the successful rollout of
new applications or features
Create and execute automated test scripts as needed
Mentor and train QA testers and or software developers in writing
test cases and accomplishing test objectives
Foster a collaborative work environment encompassing all areas of
the development team
Identify improvement to the QA process and facilitate the implementation
Identify and select tools and techniques which will enhance QA effectiveness
Target Profile
Had successfully lead QA efforts for commercial releases of enterprise
class applications in early stage companies as well as large corporate
development shops
Worked in a development environment that utilized the iterative
software development life-cycle
Has built a comprehensive QA infrastructure to support internal
software development and engineering as well as customer specific
implementations
Management experience with test engineering, QA methods, standards,
best practices, policies, processes and procedures, project control
and risk assessment management
Managed the trade-offs/issues between shipping the product on time
versus quality and the potential impact on the support and engineering
teams
Strong yet diplomatic personality: Developed a collaborative/non-adversarial
relationship with engineering.
Focused on resolving problems or creating an environment of problem
prevention
Gets involved in the engineering process, providing feedback to
develop a cleaner, higher quality product
Position Requirements
Experience testing object-oriented, Java, component-based software
architectures
Hands on experience with and knowledge of XML and J2EE architecture
(ability to read XML and Java Script)
Preferred experience using UML (Unified Modeling Language) for specifying,
visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of software
systems.
Evaluated, selected and implemented automated testing tools. Developed
automated testing scripts
Established source code control and build management procedures
and systems
Strong project management skills
Conducted white and black box testing
Built test plans, schedules and test harnesses from the ground up
Set up and ran performance test teams
Develop an understanding of the overall interdependencies of the
application to asses risk
