SPECIAL THANKS
To all the participants of the conference,
specially the Professors , teaching staff of the medical college, hospitals,
eminent doctors, medical students who were no doubt the silent participants
and the Pharmaceutical Companies.
Emed The emed panel is of opinion that every other day there are such conferences in different parts of the world, but main idea of this conference was to identify the major health problems from the perspective of this society. There is no doubt that Hepatitis-B and C have emerged as an epidemic in this country and the point is it is hitting our working age persons. Although there is vaccination for Hepatitis B, but for C, there is nothing like that and, only prevention was the solution to address the issue of this silent killer. Most of the above quoted speakers spoke about this disease and agreed that since 36% of Pakistani community is below poverty line mostly illiterate and the treatment was very expensive in terms of local currency, Health Education must be imparted to masses and electronic and Print media should help Government to address the issue. Furthermore, there was lot of latest research information on Acute Pancreatitis, GI Bleed, Ulcerative Colitis, Acid Peptic Disease provided by worthy Professors. The conference was so orchestrated, that indigenous health issues were selected which attracted large number of Participants from the city. Moreover it was the dynamic leadership of Chapter President, Professor Dr. Irshad ul Haque that leading Hepatologists and Gastroenterologists spared a day to make this occasion special and provided lot of new research work to young doctors and medical students. Bottom line is that the conference offered young doctors and students a learning curve which will prove useful in their future life. It is assumed that next year conference will be even more scientific in terms of diseases, their management and prevention.
