Gimli son of Gloin

Gimli, son of Gloin, one of the original Dwarves that went adventuring in The Hobbit, is a stout, short, and irascible creature. He is extremely proud, which almost leads to a great fall in the Mines of Khazad-Dum. Despite this, he is also a solid companion, willing to do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of his companions, and dauntlessly brave.

Gimli, along with his eventual friend Legolas does not seem to play as direct a moral part as some elements of the story. He still exhibits growth, as the Dwarves are characteristically possessive, but once Gimli recieves a gift of a hair from Galadriel, he realizes the folly of the Dwarven outlook, and becomes a more balanced character. Below is an excellent shot of Gimli from Decipher's Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game.
