The Fairview Falcons are back
for another season of exciting softball. Arguably the greatest company
softball team ever assembled are breaking out the cleats again as the
defending 2002 champions. The Falcons have established themselves as a
dynasty, considering they have always finished in the top four year-after-year,
including 3 championships in the last 6 seasons. The trend of winning
championships every 3 years continues.

This year the line-up will relatively
stay the same with possibly a couple of new additions. In 2003 the team
is hoping that poor scheduling in the part of the players (eg. Vartan
being in Lebanon on the day of the tournament) won't be repeated. The
Falcons will rely heavily on their defensive prowess, which many have
deemed to be their strength. The "toy-t" defense has definitely
won them their titles.
The dynasty was formed several
seasons ago with the signing of Warren Brewster as the player/coach/general
manager. The hard work finally paid off in the form of the first championship
in 1996, followed by another championship in 1999. Then there was a changing
of the guards after a few tumultuous seasons. Although the team finished
in the top four in the following years, many veteran players grew weary
of direction of management. Several players filed for free-agency and
went to teams offering bigger salaries for their talents. This lead to
the re-building phase for the Falcons, where some players were brought
up from the minors. This proved to be a exactly what was needed to continue
the fine play on the field. The team was winning again and the dream came
to fruition with the championship win in 2002. The only remaining members
from the previous championship year were the two players/coaches/general
managers Daniel Ramos and Madhan Bala.
2003 is sure to bring about some
exciting ball games. Will the team win again this year? Come out and see
for yourself
