Summer Camp Visitors
This summer we were asked to host the Delray Community Center Camp for an afternoon outdoors. Since we could not accommodate the campers at the Nature Area we planned several hours of walking the trails at Lake Erie Metro Park. Although heavy rains hit after the 60-70 campers arrived, they had a wonderful time exploring all of the interesting items on display at the Marshland Museum. in addition to a visit with an American bald eagle, the campers had a great time learning about muskrats, turtles, frog calls and lotus from interpreter Gerry Wykes. Our thanks to Gerry for his fabulous impromptu presentation, as well as Carol Morse, Margarete and Ingo Hasserodt, John Leon, Pete Rock and Bruce Jones - all of whom had volunteered as guides.
