We spent our honeymoon snuggled in a cabin high in the mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. It was a wonderful 7 day escape from reality :) On our way back home, we couldn't resist an urge to stay overnight at Disney's Fort Wilderness and spend an extra day in Sea World.
The Tuesday after our wedding, Feb. 26th we rented a white Ford Expedition & started our drive to Tennessee. As we got into the snow, we nicknamed the truck "Ice" because there was a LCD indicator inside the car that would tell us the temperature inside & outside as well as tell us when there was "Ice" outside. It was a great road trip & a lot of fun! We made it non-stop in 13 hours! Woo Hoo.
Since we went to Gatlinburg in February-it was their slow season as it was the remaining months of winter-it was awesome! It felt like we had the whole town to ourselves. On the weekends it would get a little busy but it was still very quiet & very romantic. The week we were there was the last week of Winterfest-Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge decorate the town with over four million lights. It's definately a sight to see!
In the days to come, we dined at Legends By Max, the Pancake Pantry & The Donut Friar in The Village. We shopped & walked around The Village ,and visted Ripley's Believe It Or Not Aquarium, explored a neighboring town, Pigeon Forge-where we spent hours mining for rubies, emeralds, & sapphires at the Pigeon Forge Gem Mine (it was so much fun!!), went horseback riding & hiking through the Great Smoky Mountains.
If you're looking for a place to just get away, Gatlinburg is the place for you!! We can't wait to go back.
Hope you enjoy the pictures! More will be added soon.
Our cabin was beautiful! Downstairs we had a full kitchen, bathroom, pool table, fireplace, and TV. On the outside deck there was a hot tub. Upstairs we had a heart shaped jacuzi and a king size bed. It was very romantic!
