Wesley & I met about 7 years ago through America Online :) Wesley was in a chat room called "South Florida" & one of my girlfriends was also in there chatting. We started chatting & met in person later that same night. Wesley's screen name is MiamiParty & soon after we started chatting I joined AOL & my screen name is ShoeiBaby. The next week, we decided we would start dating & it's been a wonderful 7 years. We were married on February 23, 2002 and are expecting the arrival of our first child in November. I honestly believe if it wasn't for AOL our paths simply would not have crossed...so here's to another internet romance :)
The Proposal
Wesley & I had talked about marriage & as any anxious young adult I kept wondering when it was going to happen, if it was going to happen. :) Our birthdays are two days apart, mine is July 15th, his is July 17th. For our birthdays in 2000 my parents took us out to dinner (as they do every year) & during dinner Wesley hands me a box & inside was a gorgeous pair of earrings. I was kind of hoping that he would propose but I thought wrong...or did I? A couple of days later, on July 16th my parents planned a birthday party for the two of us at Applebee's restaurant in Coral Springs (we were like family there b/c we had been going to the restaurant for years & my younger sister Jennifer was a hostess there for a couple of months). I remember when we got there, that there were a lot more people than I expected..even my grandparents friends! Some of the Applebee's staff came up to me and said Congratulations & when I asked for what their expresions turned to shock as one of them tried to cover up & say it was for recently graduating college (which I did). Hmmm...my mind began to wonder...what did they really mean?? My mom gets everyone's attention & tells us to watch the TV screen....on the screen comes this magnificant power point presentation (where the words, pictures & music flow nicely together)...there are pictures & captions from my birth to the present time..I notice out of the corner of my eye as Wesley gets up from sitting next to me & moves to my left and stands there...then the second to last screen said..."And Now??"..then I see Wesley reach his hand into his pocket and....the last slide came on the TV & the words, "Will You Marry Me?" appear with a picture of a diamond ring...I look to my left & there's Wesley, down on one knee holding an engagment ring. I couldn't believe it! He was proposing!! I was so happy & I was hysterically crying & quickly grabbed him (and the ring) and told him YES! It was such an amazing moment and my ring is absolutely gorgeous! :) I just couldn't believe how he had proposed, it was so sweet!! He totally had me going, I had no idea & afterwards I realized that he had planned this for over a month & my family was in on the whole thing!! :) All the nights he was working late at work, he was working late to put together the presentation. It was the best birthday ever! :)
