Music Style: Special metal-alternative collaboration project recording featuring musicians in different countries recorded completely via the internet and web.
Background:
I founded this Internet-based music group in
2002.
The objective of the project was to make cutting edge music, involving musicians
from different geographic locations, and to use the internet and other modern
technology to record songs.
Many musicians
‘applied’ (over the internet & email) to be members of “War Elephant”, but we ended up with a final lineup
of myself, Mark Fisher, Steve Pinelli & Andrew Thompson.
“War Elephant” has never played the songs together, and in fact has never been
in the same room together. The entire recording process was done virtually over
the internet (3 of the musicians are in the US, the 4th is in Australia).
War Elephant has not recorded since working together on the unfinished project
"Sushi Kat" in 2005...maybe someday we'll fire up the War Elephant Recording
machine again!

Tidal Wave- Note: War Elephant recorded this song over a year before the Asian Tsunami or 12/2004. However in sensitivity to that event the band made a cash donation to the Asian Tsunami effort in the name of "War Elephant".
How were the recordings made?
Each musician recorded digitally into either a ZOOM PS-02 digital recorder or Roland 1800 series digital workstation. Individual tracks were combined and mixed by the producer (me for the "Rhythm of the Elephants" album, Andrew Thompson in Australia for "Tidal Wave") to produce a final MP3.
