Doug, Sheila and William's 2012 St. Vincent/Bequia Trip
Two years since we were last there, we had the privilege to return to St Vincent to renew friendships begun in the past.   We spent six days on the main island of St Vincent.  Pastor and Sister Providence were very gracious in allowing us to stay with them and to enjoy many meals.                                Our homepage     Our 2002-2003 St Vincent Trip

Our desire for this trip was to bring honor to God by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging folks who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ to live according to the principles of the Bible so they can honor God as well as experience His best for their lives.

We were able to meet with many young men and one young lady with whom we’d studied God’s Word in the past.  On our first day Doug encouraged and shared regarding the authority of scripture with Delando Charles who is married and has a son.   We were able to talk with and, we trust, encourage Sister Yvette while in Kingstown.

Sheila was able to eat lunch with her friend Sheron on Thursday and had good opportunity to encourage her.

We briefly talked with Pastor Leisly in Kingstown on our way back to Campden Park.   We talked with Sister Sutton and were able to see one of William’s teachers at the school he attended nine years ago.  In the evening we were thankful to have several hours to encourage and remind CJ of truths we studied with him in the past.

On Friday we were able to ride with Pastor Providence who was seeking a young man has been discipling.  This allowed us to get to the leeward village of Fitz Hughes to find Jamal.  We had good discussion and Jamal later traveled to Campden Park where we had more good time to review and re-inforce Biblical truths.

Friday night we had the privilege sharing with the young people from the Questelles Evangelical Church how dinosaurs fit in the Bible.  Saturday we saw our friends Adrian & Paulanne and left a resource with them.  William continued working to track down his friends.    Sunday we were able to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at the Questelles Evangelical Church.  Jamal came, left, and came back after some encouragement so we’re praying he will “keep on” meeting with these saints.  Pastor Wade & Sister Jean blessed us with a wonderful dinner and we enjoyed fellowship with them.

Monday we finally had time to talk with Conroy whom we’d been seeking for several days.  He listened and interacted with us regarding truths that we’re praying he’ll begin to more follow by God’s grace.  Kamara came by along with Conroy Monday evening allowing time for added good conversation.

Tuesday was time to pack and prepare to go to Bequia.  We were thankful Enrico came by so we could talk further about God’s ways and encourage Enrico to commit himself to them.
We were blessed to relax in a nice resort once we got to Bequia.

Tuesday evening we shared in the Port Elizabeth Evangelical Church’s Bible study.   Wednesday we were able to visit the property which God has provided Pastor Cameron & Andine on which to build a home.

That evening our goal was to strengthen these same brothers and sisters regarding the authority of God’s Word by sharing how the Bible’s explanation of the universe and life is the best one.  After the service we encouraged two young men we’d met in 2010, Jeffrey & Ewing, regarding growth in their walk with God.

We’re thankful for the opportunities we had to speak of God’s truth, encourage, remind, and challenge.  We were saddened to hear that one of our young men has a child out of wedlock.  We assured him that we and, more importantly, God still love him.  We encouraged him to re-commit to purity and to take responsibility to care for this little one.  Our prayer is he will do that.   During our stay we learned that Ashaman, with whom we worked a great deal is seeking work on another island.  We pray he will serve God there.  We saw, first hand, the sad effects of drugs on one of William’s friends.  William wrote him a letter since he didn’t want to talk.  We pray this young man will be delivered from this snare of the evil one.

All in all, we thank God for allowing us to make this trip, trust Him to bring the results He desires from it, and look forward to the next time He may allow us to return again.   We welcome and encourage your continued prayers for one or more of these individuals and thank you for the prayers you invested in this trip on our behalf and for His honor.

Blessings,
Doug, Sheila & William
