I wish you had more background information on the horses, such as what breeds they are. I have an old (1940's or 1950's?) framed photograph of a palomino in what is probably Western movie attire (large, brown leather bridle with noseband and lots of studs and conchos); the name on the back says "Cimarron". Does anyone know who this is? |

(I'm still in awe of how he got Ed to go through a car wash with out the horse freaking to the point of needing MAJOR doses of acepromazine. Great trainer & a very special horse.)If it wasn't for Mr. Ed, I never would have quit Fed Ex & learned my present trade. I've been shoeing horses for 20 years, & met my wife @ a horse show. (Horse threw a shoe before her class, I put it back on her horse & she won 1st in her class. If not for Ed, I'd still be stuck in a job I HATED & would probably stil be single. Thanks alot Ed & Les, I owe you guys big time. God Bless. Gary |

My parents finally got into the act when I was about 7 years old. They bought a pony named Prince for my sister,my brothers, and me to share. When I was about 9 years old I got to buy my own pony named Chris Cross with my own money. He was wonderful. I didn't have a tv when I was growing up, so I read lots of books about horses. Chris Cross would become whoever I was reading about at the time. Thank-you for a family based web site on one of my favorite subjects:horses. |

I was saddened to read about Lee Aaker, one of my all time favorites growing up as a youngster from Italy in the 1950's. When I researched my book, I located the Rin Tin Tin cap gun and 101st cavalry gunbelt and decided to include Lee Aaaker and the story of the first Rin Tin Tin and the TV western of the same name. I also loved all the names of the horses matched up to the various stars that had the pleasure (and at times, sore behind) of riding them through many of my most memorable episodes of TV's golden age of westerns! Great website ! |

VL Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Grand Rapids, MI USA Time: 1999-05-07 11:21:45 Comments: Hi! I am looking for the western TV show (and episode title if possible) that had an episode about a young teen who is entrusted to take care of someone's horse while they were away for awhile. The boy does not watch the horse closely enough, and while resting in a forest meadow, he awakes to find the horse has wondered off into a pool of quicksand. He tries desperately to rescue the horse by building a path of sticks. But it doesn't support his weight, and he sinks in up to his waist. He gets himself out by pulling on a dead tree near the edge that falls down in the process. The horse eventually goes under; its ears are the last things you see to sink out of sight. This was back many years ago, perhaps between 1964 and 1970. It might have been Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, The Virginian. Does anyone recall such an episode? It's been driving me crazy since I was a kid. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Blanks Website: Referred by: From a Friend From: Fayetteville, GA Time: 1999-04-24 11:24:19 Comments: I met the Lee Aaker "imposter" at an Atlanta Film Festival around 1991 or 92. Jim Brown was also there and he and the "imposter" sat together at dinner and hung around together during the shows. I was shocked with I saw Paul Peterson bring the real Lee onto TV and tell the story. I met Paul in 1995 and he explained the whole incident to me during breakfast. It is similar to yours in that he ran into the imposter at a Scottsdale, AZ show and went over to talk about the times they had double dated. When the imposter didn't remember any of it, Paul got curious and later found Lee teaching skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains to handicapped children. Lee was a recovering alcholic and drug user and was very recluse. Paul brought him out and starting accompanying him to Film Festivals. Lee disappeared after one Festival and Paul found him about a week later. He had "fallen" and told Paul that he just couln't take any more of the public appearances. As far as we know, Lee went back to his old job where he was very happy. I enjoyed reading your stories. |

She mentioned he had a website. When I entered Mr. Ed's name for a search, I found Horse Fame. You have absolutely no idea how I felt when I saw the information on Fury. It was like finding a treasure that I had buried as a child, only to find as an adult. Fury and My Friend Flicka were my two favorite shows as a child. I have wondered for years why Mr. Ed has been brought back, but Fury and Flicka have not. These are the three greatest TV horse shows in my opinion and it is a shame that Fury and Flicka are kept from the horse loving children of this generation. Thank you so much for creating this website. I will visit many, many times. If anyone knows of a site for Flicka, other than selling the video, please e-mail me. |
