Right, so I've cast Emma as Emily. She claims to be a terrible actress, but I don't really care. I'm not exactly choosing people for talent rather than their availability and rough suitability. Actually, that's unfair. I think Ciaron can play the role rather well, though he says his family disagree. On the other hand, his family apparently think Tim is perfect for Hayes.

We were going to film Emma's scene with Ciaron tomorrow morning, but she's got the flu. Ciaron said he'd rather shoot all the London-based scenes in one fell swoop, so tomorrow's filming is cancelled.

In other news, I've now got Tim's business card with his phone number (Orange sent him a whole load of free cards, or maybe it was One2One), so some Saturday in February we'll film the scenes with Hayes. As far as I see it, there are now only two days of filming to do.

I can do the credits sequence by myself. For that, I want to intersperse some of the travelling footage I got with a long shot of traffic passing along a road, shot from across a wheat field.

I want to wait until we have all the visuals before Ciaron records his voice-over. Just in case there are any unexpected changes that need to be reflected in his narration. Yes, this is the opposite of what I said before. Back off, man. Just back off.

According to my best sources (Ciaron), Tim has the whole of February off work. I have decided to schedule Tim's scenes for.... February.

Assuming there are no disasters, the sequences with Tim will be the last ones shot. I'm thinking I'll record Ciaron's voice-over before then. It doesn't need the rest of the film.

I am also pondering asking my friend Emma to play Emily, if I ever manage to catch up with her. She's a tad too young for the role, but I'm becoming desperate. Plus I think she has her own transport and a house we can use as a location
