Meet the 'Bots
Cambot- Films the show. Not really, but we like to think the prop does.
Made of a lamp and stuff. Has no arms.
Gypsy- Controls the ship and watches over the collective heads of
knuckle who watch bad movies. Likes to bake, and is a hedonist with
cookies. Made of a now-deemed-unsafe child seat (which Brian actually
used as a kid! *this explains a lot*) and PVC. Has no arms.
TomTom Servo- The sinister yet loveable, baritone 'bot. Likes hamdingers
and the theatre. The smarter, cosmopolitan 'bot. Made of a gumball
machine, a barrel, and toys. Arms don't work, but flop around a lot.
Crow T. Robot- Lanky gold idiot who plays with chicken puppets and is
extremely deluded. Made out of Tupperware and toys. Arms don't work,
but can play the spoons when regenerated into a Scottish bum (you'll
understand later).
Demonicus 9000- The Gremlin-voiced bot who likes Poke'mon and takes
a lot of abuse. All of his appendages were torn off at some time or
another by Dr. Forrester. The Demonicus was harmed in the making of
this film. Made of a thermos, vacuum parts, and toys. Unlike the other
bots, "he" is an original Brian Design.
What is the Mystery of Mystery Science Theater 3000?
Mystery Science Theater 3000, also known as MST3K, ran on
several networks for 10 years from 1989 to 1999. It also spawned a
feature film, MST3K: The Movie, which is quite good despite having no
press or advertising whatever due to demonic forces at Universal Pictures.
The show currently runs reruns Saturday morings on the Sci-Fi network.
The premise of the show is this- Some guy (played on the TV show by the
creator Joel Hodgeson, and later by Mike Nelson; shown here by the
impish Brian) was shot up into space by a mad scientist (Jeff) and is
forced to watch bad movies. To survive the cinematic slaughter, he
cracks jokes at the screen with robot pals Tom Servo (Jeff again) and
Crow (Mikey). Every half an hour the trio of movie watchers walk back
to the other side of the ship, and perform a small skit ot vignette to
entertain, or possibly annoy their captors. And if you need more of a
premise than that, go to www.mst3kinfo.com read stuff. Or you can go to
www.bestbrians.com and learn how to build your own MST3K robot
puppets. It's your choice, I personbally recommend the former. Because
they have a better website then I do.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a great , low-budget, fun show,
and everyone involved figured it deserved another episode. And the
producers of MST3K, Best Brains, did give us permission to do a fan
thing. But, we never even asked about getting the permission to make fun
of Doctor Who or Ragtime. So don't tell anyone. Or else the puppets
will get nasty.
