THE BANNER.......
This celebrates the life of Chris Pettiet, an actor taken long before his time. I thought I would express my appreciation of him- as an actor and as a boy in an adult world. Best known for the TV series 'The Young Riders' and the film 'The Goodbye Bird' (where he delivers an extremely sensitive performance), Chris has not lost the beauties of the world- it is the world that has lost the beauties of Chris.
WHAT'S TO KNOW?
Well, I'm a getting steadily older movie-crazy Rock 'n' Roll fan who lives by the sea and is a lecturer (on film and media) for a living. I like what I do, but, as ever, it's the students and their enthusiasm for the subjects that makes it all worthwhile.
I'm also into radio, and specifically preserving old radio programmes, which means ferreting out reel to reel or cassette tapes from ye olden days and making sure their archival contents don't end up as pure landfill. I extend the preservation into local afairs, and I'm a keen follower of heritage and the environment where I live, especially related to potentially damaging changes people want to make to it.
From the links below you'll also see that I'm a 'taper'- one of those friendly individuals who believes that if an artist is worth going to see they're worth being recorded. Think about it- some of the legendary gigs wouldn't exist if it weren't for those members of the audience who lugged great chunks of equipment around in the pre-mobile phone world. These days it's a whole LOT easier. Think Mini Disc. Think logical. Think perfect recording. (But don't chat to me when I'm recording, dammit! And no- repeat NO- chatting when the Artist is performing. I've paid to hear them sing, not you pontificate about world events).
