Welcome to the very last news update for 'The Queen
of the Damned Movie Site'. As I announced last week, I will soon be travelling overseas
and, as a result, I will no longer be able to update this site...
Tomorrow I shall convert this section from 'News Updates' into 'News Archives'. I have been collecting information about the movie since February, 2000, and so I shall leave these archives accessible for future reference. This site will remain fully operational. All sections have been updated as much as possible. However, for all the latest movie developments, I strongly recommend Debbie Campbell's Queen of the Damned Movie Cast Site. She has now created her very own 'News' page to take over where I'm leaving off! The Official Site is also worth keeping an eye on. There's really not much there at the moment but, hopefully, they'll eventually do a whole heap of work and finally reveal some new information. Another site to keep visiting is the Stuart Townsend Fanpage. And for more 'Queen of the Damned' and general movie news sites, check out my extensive Links Archive.
Personally, I believe that news concerning the film will remain relatively quiet for some
time to come. This is due to a number of reasons:
1) Filming is complete and the movie is now in post-production. While there was a lot of
information revealed during the shoot, once filming wrapped, the information quickly
became less prevelent.
2) The movie's Official Site took a year to come online and then provided us with very
basic information. I was hoping for a more informative site with some new revelations
about the progress of the film. Besides from a new Akasha pic, the site is currently
rather disappointing.
3) The movie was set for an October 2001 release and then suddenly pushed back to
'sometime' next year. This was a great disappointment as this means the film is now, at
the very least, 8 months away.
4) There hasn't been very much promotion of the film, and this looks set to continue for
some time. Admittedly, there have been several newspaper, magazine and online articles,
and these will probably continue to emerge throughout the year to come. However, it seems
to me that Warner Brothers wish this project to remain relatively secretive until we get
closer to the release date. Since the release date is still undecided, this means we could
be in for a long wait...
There is a possibility that I will 're-launch' this site sometime next year at a time much
closer to the actual release of the film. I have a feeling that the release date will be
quite a few months into 2002, and so there's plenty of time before the movie finally hits
the silver screen... This is just speculation, of course, but still a possibility! ;)
In the meantime, let's cross our fingers and hope that this movie turns out well and the
finished product is better than we expect. I remain very curious about the film, and I
look forward to the day when the movie finally hits the big screen... However it turns
out, I'm sure it will be a hellova ride!!!

Great news for Stuart Townsend fans - a brand new fansite is finally online!
As many of you know, there seems to have only ever
been one Stuart site on the entire web. The
Unofficial Stuart Townsend Site was the only fansite I ever found, and so I have been
disappointed by the lack of Stu sites (especially after his fantastic performance at the
Death Valley Concert!) In the past, it has been rather difficult to find information about
our new Lestat. But now I am happy to announce the launch of The Stuart Townsend Fansite! This
site is obviously under construction, but it is looking very promising indeed! It includes
a biography, filmography, articles, photos and movie information, and will be updated with
all the latest Stu information as it's released! This is definitely a place to watch!!!
Last
month, I posted a fantastic account of the Death
Valley Concert shoot written by fellow fan, Angel Sorion. This week I've come across
another great review, this time written by Dark Maiden on her website. Feel free to take
a look - it's definitely worth the read! (Special thanks to Ash for
the notification!)
I
have now added 10 more pages of script which details
the final confrontation between Akasha, Lestat and the 'Ancient Ones'. These sequences
will obviously be very special-effects heavy, and I can see this being quite an exciting
finale (although it is a little predictable for fans!) However, fans of the book will
notice that some major alterations have been made, including the unexpected death of two
characters. Amusingly, there is one substantial flaw with continuity in these final
pages... a certain character is killed on page 128 and then reappears on page 130! *smiles* But don't worry, I'm sure they picked it up. They probably
either scrapped the line, or assigned it to Armand instead... You'll see what I mean! ;)

IMPORTANT SITE ANNOUNCEMENT:
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to travel
overseas, and now my dream is finally going to become a reality. I will be leaving
Australia in a couple of weeks to visit the UK. I have planned a 3 month holiday, but I
may stay on for much longer than that. I have a British passport which means I can live
and work there for as long as I choose without any restrictions. I have completed my
University degree and now the opportunities are endless...
Unfortunately, I will not have the time or the resources to continue updating this site
while I'm overseas. My final News Update will be posted on Monday, 16th April. Yes, that's
exactly one week from today.
Be assured that, despite my absence, this site will remain fully operational. It will be
left online along with all the information I have gathered over the past year. The site
just won't be updated anymore and my 'News Updates' section will be transformed into a
'News Archives' section.
Debbie Campbell, webmistress of The Queen of the
Damned Movie Cast Site, has kindly agreed to continue the QotD legacy on her excellent
site. She is planning to add her own 'News' page featuring updates on the latest QotD
developments. This will be a brand new section on her site, along with all the other
fantastic information she continues to provide. She will be taking over where I'm set to
leave off...
Like I said, my own site will remain fully operational. Over the next week, I will be
reviewing every page to make sure it's as up-to-date as possible before I leave. And don't
worry, I will also post the remainder of the script by the end of the week.
I have decided to remove my two discussion forums on the 16th for the simple reason that I
will be unable to moderate them anymore. Recently, posts have become rather off-topic with
some abusive language involved. Rather than leave the forums 'open' to this kind of
behaviour, I have decided to remove them from this site. I thank everyone who has
contributed to the boards over the last year and I do recognise that some of you have
become regular board visitors. Don't worry, you will be able to continue your discussions
using Debbie's own Discussion Forum on her wonderful QotD Movie Cast Site.
This site has been an important part of my life over the last year. I have enjoyed talking
with fellow fans and discovering people's thoughts concerning this film. I have spent
countless nights searching the web and tracking down all the latest tidbits of information
so that I could share them with you right here on this site. I have also tried to make
sense of Warner Brothers decisions concerning this film. It turns out that this movie will
be very, very different to Anne Rice's book, and I have used this site to make people
aware of the differences involved. I hope you have enjoyed visiting this site as much as
I've enjoyed creating it! :)
Of course, if there is any more QotD news during this coming week, I will be sure to post additional updates. I will write again on the 16th to bid my final farewell...
