Two brand new cast members have been announced!!!
Over the weekend, 'The Hollywood Reporter' revealed
the names of two actresses apparently 'in negotiations' to join the film. However, I am
quite sure that their casting will soon be confirmed. 4Filmakers.com has them already listed as official
cast members, and this site has been a most reliable source so far (it was the first to
officially list Aaliyah and Stuart Townsend in their respective roles). Corona's Coming Attractions
also mentioned the news, as did Cinescape
Online [special thanks go to Ronnie Burleson for telling me of
Cinescape's update!]
- IGN Movies Coming Soon! reports:
More 'Damned' Casting
Sunday, August 27, 2000 11:57 CDT
"Lena Olin and newcomer Marguerite Moreau are in negotiations
to join the cast of Warner Bros. "Queen of the Damned" for director Michael
Rymer. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film, which stars Stuart Townsend and
actress-singer Aaliyah, follows vampire Lestat (Townsend) as he becomes a rock star whose
music wakes up Akasha, the queen of all vampires (Aaliyah). In the process, a young woman
who works as a vampire hunter (Moreau) falls in love with Lestat. Olin would play the role
of Moreau's vixen aunt who tries to stop her niece from seeing Lestat's rock shows. The
film is based on the third installment of Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles".
Obviously, Moreau will be Jesse and Olin will be Maharet, "the vixen aunt". I had to laugh at this description - I have no idea where that sentence came from! It makes the character of Maharet sound rather 'shallow'...but I assure you, in my version of the script, she is not.
Marguerite Moreau
Lena Olin
Jesse (?)
Maharet (?)
(click for larger images and respective IMDb pages)
Both actresses are, as expected, relatively unknown. Marguerite is 23, and Lena is a 44-year-old Swedish actress. It seems that Marguerite's most notable role was as Connie Moreau (!) in the 'Mighty Ducks' trilogy, and Lena was last seen in 'The Ninth Gate' with Johnny Depp. I will be adding them to my Movie Info page soon. In the meantime, anyone with further information and pictures, please e-mail me!
As
reported in my last update, a casting session was held over the weekend for aspiring goth
extras. Seems that the attendence was rather poor, according to this feedback:
"Went along today to the extras casting thing at Mary Martin
Bookshops (it was actually moved into the shopping mall since MMB is closed on Sundays). I
don't think more than 30 or so people turned up, I'm assuming Saturday had more. Anyway
the process was for us to fill out a form with personal details, including measurements,
then we were taking into an office and had one photograph taken. Then we were asked to
stand in front of a video camera, say our name, how long we'd been in the goth scene for,
then say why you'd want to be in the film. I didn't fare too well at that after lots of
drinking and very little sleep the night before. :) The process cost $8 but there was no
charge if you brought along a professional photograph of yourself. I think they said
they'd get back to us in 2 or 3 weeks if we'd been accepted."
Best of luck to all who attended, especially my 'anonomous' tipster! J

ATTENTION MELBOURNIANS!
Aspiring extras take note! I have been just been
informed of the following:
"Producers are looking for about 200 goths, and extras
auditions are being held at Mary Martin Bookshops at 108 Bourke Street, Melbourne, at
1:30pm both Saturday and Sunday. Bring $10 to cover the cost of photos since the extras
casting staff aren't being paid for their work."
Good luck to everyone who attends! Should be a really interesting experience! Further
details and photos of this "goth" assembly would be much appreciated - if you
attend the auditions, please get back to me! J
More
auditions were held on Tuesday, 22. August. Special thanks go to Rita
for sending me these details!
"Today my friend went for an audition for a part in the
movie... i went with him to check out prototype casting and the people auditioning.. funny
thing was none of them new much about the film all they knew it was a "sequel"
to interview with a vampire... (i put "sequel" like that cos its not really a
sequel is it hehehe) my friend went for a part which was named "punk vampire"
(it was requested they use a UK or US accent). He auditioned at the same time with a
female playing jesse in this small scene..."
Rita was lucky enough to get hold of the section of script used
at the auditions, and so I was able to compare it to my "unofficial" copy. It
turns out that it was a very familiar scene! However, it was also very much altered. Yes,
according to this segment, the unoffical script HAS been altered! This is good news for
fans, as it indicates that many alterations ight be made to various scenes and dialogue!
My next script update will consist of a similar script section to the one used in the
audition. I plan to post both sections - new and old - on a special "Script
Comparisons" page so you can see the differences between them for yourself. Bear in
mind that the scene may have been shortened/altered specifically for the audition, but it
will be interesting to compare the copies all the same!
PLUS:
A rumour is going around Melbourne at the moment that ALL modelling/acting agencies have
been contacted to send in details of their actors/models that are signed with them for
consideration for the film. Apparently, the agencies themselves don't know too much about
the movie. They're under the impression that its not going be filmed for another couple of
months and won't be expecting call-backs anytime soon. Well, while shooting is scheduled
to begin 27. September, it's rumoured that filming will go through until Christmas, so I
suppose call-backs could be as late as November, depending on the production sequence?
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has updated its QotD page recently. Additions include:
- a cast list (finally!), with Aaliyah credited as
"Queen Akasha".
- the official announcement of costume designers Sandy Powell (Interview With The Vampire)
and Deborah Lynn Scott (Titanic).
- a news article from the World Entertainment News Network:
"New Vampire Movie Underway In Australia (21. August, 2000)
Stuart Townsend is set to begin filming his new movie Queen of the Damned, The (2001) in
Australia. The film is based on the third novel in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles - but is
only the second instalment to be brought to the screen. Stuart's role was originally
earmarked for Wes Bentley, but he dropped out of the project earlier this year. Directed
by Michael Rymer, the film follows the vampire Lestat as he becomes a rock star whose
music wakes up the queen of all vampires."
A few
days ago, Corona's Coming
Attractions reported "Anonymously, we're slipped the note that Australian Shane Paxton is up for a part. The actor is supposedly in America
for contract talks." If anyone has further information about this actor, please e-mail me!
I
added more script pages today. Updates will now be weekly
due to the growing amount of movie news that continually needs to be added to this site!
I've also posted a new entry on the Script Suggestions
page, and the Movie Info page has also been updated.

More casting information today on Prototype's Bulletin Board. The
following information was posted by Greg Apps, casting director of Prototype:
"No Australian roles have been cast so far. We are looking for
vampires. Lots.
The overall brief from the director is that we need them to be young, gaunt beautiful.
There are mortal roles as well, but hey, doesn't everyone want to be a vampire??!!"
And Rachel Bailey is apparently no longer the
extras casting person for the film. Her replacement is Karen Newman. All photos and other
relevant details should now be sent to:
Karen Newman
Prototype Casting
117 Rouse Street,
PORT MELBOURNE Vic 3207
(mark the envelope clearly "Queen of the Damned")
Greg has also stated, "We cannot get back to any enquiries or approaches, but we can guarantee your photos will be looked at and considered." [I sure hope so! J]
Despite my earlier reports, it seems the
much-anticipated Triple M radio competition is not completely out of the question
just yet! Yesterday, Traci Stubbs rang the station to enquire once again about what's
going on. She was given the following response:
"I cannot tell you about the competition. It will not be on the website until it is
organised."
Well, this isn't a flat-out "no", and it sounds like it might still be in the
works!? As Traci says, "an extremely vague response. But, they're not saying it is
not going to be on the site!" The competition was supposed to run this month, but I
guess they could push it back to September. In the meantime, keep a look out for any signs
on their website.
As was reported in my 14. August update, an
open casting session for 'Satan's Night Out' was held by Prototype in Sydney on Friday,
11. August. I have now been informed that the call-back was on Monday, 21. August between
9am and 12:30pm. Special thanks to Simon K for the following
information:
- Director Michael Rymer was present during the call-back with a cameraman and ex-oingo
boingo musician responsible for music.
- Jonathon Davis and Limp Biskit were not present, and neither was fellow ex-oingo boingo
member Danny Elfman (Simpsons, etc), not that he is involved.
- Sadistik Exekution (an all-boy Sydney band) did not get a
call-back.
- Nitocris (an all-girl Sydney band) did get a call-back. (this is to Simon's knowledge, although the band is yet to announce it on
their site. Find out more about them at - http://www.nitocris.com)
'The Anthony Kirkland Jr Voting Booth' has now
been closed. The final tally can be found on my Anthony
Kirkland Jr Page. As promised, Anthony left a message today in the 'Discussion Forum'
expressing his gratitude for our support. His page will remain open for future reference,
and today I updated it with his e-mail address for anyone wishing to contact him.
Last week, Anne Rice added some brand new video
messages to her Official Site. The messages are
divided into five topics, one of which is 'Queen of the Damned movie'. Feel free to listen
to her messages yourself (you can find them on her site under 'Announcements', or click here). In the meantime, here is a
transcript of her comments about the film:
"The other question I want to answer is about 'The Queen
of the Damned', the film that was supposed to be being made in Hollywood. All I can say
again is that I'm not connected with the production, and I don't really know anything
about what's happening, except that Warner Brothers does seem to be very serious about
making this film, and they do seem to be very serious about starting in September. So it
looks like there will be a film called 'The Queen of the Damned', and you and I will have
to wait and see what this film is really about and what it's like. It's a great unknown in
my life and I wish I had more to tell you, and if you find out anything about it by all
means e-mail me on the website, or call me on the ringer line and tell me what you know.
You may find out something before I do."
17. August, 2000
An official starting date has now
been announced! Production is set to begin on 27. September, 2000.
This news was announced in the latest edition of the local 'Messenger' newspaper. The
paper reported news of the QotD studio currently under preparation in St. Albans, and
reaffirmed the general secrecy surrounding the location details. It's the first
newspaper article about the warehouse so far, and I'm surprised the city papers haven't
picked up on the information yet. Still, I'm sure it's only a matter of time...
(Special thanks go to Gabrielle de
Lioncourt for sending me this article!)
Film shoot in St.Albans
(Brimbank Messenger Tuesday, August 15, 2000)
'It may not be Hollywood but it would seem St.Albans has caught the eye of some heavy-duty
film makers. A former Nestle warehouse in Regan St will be used to film a new Hollywood
vampire film called Queen of the Damned. Shooting the film, which is the follow to
Interview with the Vampire, will start on September 27. Publicists are tight-lipped about
how much of the Village Roadshow and Warner Bros film will be shot in St.Albans and how
long the filming will take. St.Albans Business and Group president Paul Borg said he was
excitied about the project. "It's great news for the area and hopefully we'll have
more movies made out this way," Mr. Borg said. "I hope Warner Bros looks upon
St.Albans in a favourable light and returns again. "The western suburbs has a lot to
offer."'
An extremely negative script review ("Script Asylum - Queen of
the Damned") has emerged over at IGN Movies. Feel free to check it out here.
As much as I'd love to contradict what Chris Bernier has to say, I found myself actually
agreeing with many of his comments! His general observations about what happens in the
script are...well...kinda true. However, be forewarned that he did not like 'Interview' in
the least, and he mentions his feelings about this film at the beginning of the third
paragraph. What he says here I don't agree with, but his comparisons to films like 'Blade'
and 'Cruel Intentions' are unfortunately rather accurate descriptions!
More script pages were added today. From now on, updates will be made further apart due to the growing amount of movie news that I will need to continue to keep track of over the next couple of months...
No
news just yet concerning the outcome of the band auditions that were held last week, but Shane K has reported that other contenders were Nitocris and
Sadistic Execution - two bands from Sydney. If anyone has any further information about
these bands or the auditions, please e-mail me!
14. August, 2000
It's official!!!
Stuart Townsend will definitely be the new Lestat!!!
Greg Apps, casting director of
Prototype, has assured me that this is true, and so the search for Lestat has now
officially ended. I'm sure this comes as somewaht of a relief to fans, but it may also
cause some future concerns about his compatability with the role...what do you think of
this casting choice? Feel free to e-mail me, or
express your opinions in my Discussion Forum. To find out more about Stuart, visit the Unofficial Stuart Townsend Website.
Debbie Campbell has kindly created two speculative images of Stuart as Lestat. She has combined the 'original' body (Tom Cruise) with the 'new' face (Stuart Townsend), and the result proves to be very effective! Debbie has also created a fantastic QotD title image that will now be featured on my newly-updated Movie Info page! Very special thanks go out to Debbie for letting me use these images:
An open casting session for Satan's Night Out was held by Prototype in
Sydney last Friday (11. August). About 50 aspiring actors and musicians tried out for the
parts. As well as the band members, attendees might also be considered for other roles.
Call-backs are expected to begin this week, and so decisions should be made soon. (special thanks to Shane K for this info!)
Further information about the session came from 'Israel' who actually tried out at the auditions! He reported the
following:
- "There was a rumour floating around the waiting room that Willem Dafoe is being
considered for a role. I heard someone say Lestat, but that seems extremely
unlikley." [it sure is - Lestat has now been cast!]
- "Another rumour I heard was that the Maudy role is almost cast. They have someone
in mind. But as I said, it's just a rumour."
And here's something for us all to ponder over...
- "The audition was improvised, but the general scenario was taken from the script,
and from what I could see IT WAS THE SCRIPT YOU HAVE!"
My script is THE script?! I've heard reports of this elsewhere, but I haven't really begun to believe them until now! Reportedly, no alterations have been made to the February edition that I've obtained. This means that what I'm posting right now - it looks set to be the actual filming script!!!
Exciting news about the QotD warehouse in St
Albans today!!! It's now been unofficially confirmed that this site will serve as a giant
studio for the film. Preparations have now definitely begun within the old Nestle factory,
and the evidence is now very clear thanks to Gago - an
enthusiastic fan who jumped the fence and snuck a peek inside! He writes:
"Well tonight, I went out with my girlfriend for a coffee to the city. On the way back as we were driving past the factory, i slowed down and started talking about it. I told her: "See, look at all the lights, there must be something happening here." She suggested that we take a closer look. We parked the car on the side of the road. Got out and found a small opening in the gate. We jumped over and we could not see anything in front of us as it was dark. I guess we were afraid if there were any dogs around. Thank god there weren't any. I told her to move quickly with me from tree to tree, just in case the were security guards or something. Anyway...we ran to one of the big metal roller door's (I guess were the trucks go in. ) I had an Idea to look at the rubish box which was next to the door and was big and full of paper/cardboard. We saw allot of packaging from lights, tungsten lighting, technical equipment and computer disks. We walked slowly to the other side of the building where the windows were lower and the light was on. I lifted her up and asked her what she could see..."nothing...just an empty room." I thought to myself hang on...let me have a look. Luckily, i turned around and saw what I think was a boiler/box or something. I climbed on top of it and what i saw got me excited! I saw tables/shelves with lots of vase's/pot's which were painted in gold, some rock/statue thing's which looked like parts of an egyptian alter. There were many baskets/different shapes and sizes. I pulled her up so she could see too. She was also suprised. We than jumped to the ground...and started walking towards a glass door which was the entrance to that room to get a closer look. When we got close, we saw doll's used in the fashion industry, and materials. Obviously they are making the costumes here. Than we saw about 20metres in front of us a man walking slowly. I didn't get a proper look as we started running to the fence. My girlfriend said it was a security guard. Suprisingly he didn't chase us. Anyway...we jumped over, got in the car and drove off. I guess everyone is entitled to some excitement in their live's. :)"
Anyone who is game enough to
join in with Gago's investigations,
please e-mail me with your photos and
observations! J

A major casting revelation today! According to Greg Apps, casting director of Prototype...
LESTAT HAS FINALLY BEEN CAST!!!!
The winner???
STUART TOWNSEND!
Finally, it appears that Warner
Brothers have made their long-awaited decision! Yes, it seems the latest mainstream
contender for Lestat has won the role!!! I'm not sure exactly when this news was
discovered, but as far as QotD sites go, you
heard it here FIRST, folks!!! J
I've only JUST discovered the news over at the Prototype Website. To see for yourself, check out the 'Queen of the Damned' thread on their Bulletin Board. Greg will post more details as they come to hand. I have also sent him an e-mail, asking for clarification of this ground-breaking news!!!
This Lestat revelation comes just two days after Corona's
Coming Attractions reported:
(Special thanks go to Lily and Debbie for
this info!)
"This fellow Aussie heard on their local radio station today that Stuart Townsend "is in Sydney to audition for a part in the movie. He's keeping it low key in case he doesn't get it." [Reported by Shane Porter.]"
Apparently, he has indeed won
the part!
(Look out for a fully confirmed update
soon!!!)
Well, after this amazing
discovery, everything else seems somewhat less important today (!), but more casting news
has become available...Dark Horizons has reported:
"Despite rumours to the contrary, it has been confirmed that Simon Baker-Denny ("L.A. Confidential", "Red Planet") will NOT be appearing in the upcoming "Queen of the Damned" about to begin filming in Melbourne. Denny was considered but unfortunately his and the productions schedules didn't gel. Another star of the film, Aaliyah in the title role, is currently in Sydney doing makeup tests as she prepares for the shoot."
Applications for extras positions are now being taken. Last week,
Greg Apps listed these details on the Prototype Website Bulletin Board:
- The extras casting person for this film is named Rachel Bailey.
- The much anticipated Triple M radio competition will probably not be held after all! It
remains 'yet to be confirmed'.
- Photos and resume should be sent to Prototype Casting, 117 Rouse Street, PORT MELBOURNE
3207. Mark the envelope Queen of the Damned.
- Also, composer Richard Gibbs will arrive in Melbourne next weekend. Band auditions were
reportedly held this week and, hopefully, the members will be named soon...
I've now sent my own extras application off to Melbourne! Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky...(??) J
9. August, 2000
Finally, Aaliyah has spoken out
about the film!!! I definitely recommend checking out MTV.com
for a brand new interview about her involvement with the movie entitled 'Aaliyah Preps For
"Damned" Vampire Role'. It is a transcript of a recent MTV radio interview, and
all her quotes can be heard on RealVideo, enabling you to hear the words coming from
Aaliyah herself! One of her most notable quotes?
"I'm a bit of a vampire for real. I like the dark, I like the night, so I really don't have to take it to [the extreme of] sleeping in coffins."
For this, and much more, check
out the full interview here! J
(Special thanks go to Jessica, icp587 and Leslie
for the info!)
Dark Horizons
yesterday reported these pre-production details, as from tipster 'Agent W':
(Special thanks go to Debbie
and SIMONREXs for this news!)
A lot of people I've talked to before seeing these pics, were under the impression that the sets would be very "original gothic" a'la Interview With The Vampire, but that really couldn't be farther from the truth. Think more along the lines of 'Dark City' and you'll have a better understanding of them, (considering the same team is working on this).
OK, to clarify a few points : no-one on the construction team has seen a shooting schedule as yet, nor hide nor hair of the cast. What I did hear, is that Michael Rymer's re-write IS the final shooting script. This is not too good, as every review I've seen of his script says in no soft terms how awful it is.
Casting-wise, by pure coincidence, I saw Simon
Denny ("L.A. Confidential") in central Melbourne. I know he's been rumoured to
be in this film, but for all I know, he could simply live in Melbourne. Liv Tyler - I've
only just heard of this rumour myself, but what I did hear from one of the crew, is that
she is more likely to be linked to 'Planet Of The Apes' (one of the human slaves?). This
may be where the rumour started, primarily because they are both being filmed (in part)
over here (Syd & Mel)."
I think a set design along the lines of 'Dark City' could be effective for this film. We must remember that this movie is in no way a sequel to 'Interview' - it is starting afresh with new actors, new character interpretations, and a new storyline that does not relate to the original film. Personally, I loved the style of 'Dark City', and I am looking forward to seeing the set team's results.
However, on a more negative note, it seems that the final shooting script WILL be a certain unofficial script that a certain someone has happened to obtain! And apparently there has been no further re-writes? Hmmm, I'm sure this is bound to cause quite a stir among fans...
I
updated the new 'Who is Anthony Kirkland Jr?' page
today with some of his quotes about the Chronicles. Feel free to head on over and check
them out!
Also, you may have experienced some difficulties today and/or yesterday with my guestbook,
discussion forums and voting booths. Be assured that this is a temporary downage
associated with my Bravenet host. They have been hard at work upgrading their system for
faster, easier access to all their facilities, and everything should be back online
sometime today!
8. August, 2000
Lots of location news today!
From now on, I will refer to the
old Nestle factory at St Albans as the QotD warehouse, for it is beginning to look
suspiciously like a "secret set" according to my Melbournian friends...
- First of all, Gabrielle has reported:
"I've taken a closer look at the warehouse... They've blocked up all the windows though, so there is no way for me to sneak a look in. The place does have a fence around it but it is pretty crap and there are many ways in. The really funny thing is that they are building houses right near the building. The backyards of these places are virtually against the fence. It's totally weird because this area has only recently been opened up for development and there are houses springing up everywhere..."
- Also, Rita has revealed:
"I went passed the warehouse today and i must say its pretty big...
I took photos of the place but your not going to get much out of them as i took them from
inside my car and the whole place is fenced up.. they are about 6 -7 feet high with barb
wire on the top... good luck trying to get through them... pretty amazing thing is the
warehouse looks SO odd there... on one side of the warehouse there are old houses... and
the other side surrounding the warehouse are newly built houses.. most of the houses in
that estate are still being built!!.. theres only one entrance.. tho it wasnt really
heavily guarded i still didnt think i should go in and check it out just yet... on one
side of the warehouse where it looks like nestle does its deliveries there are about 4
high garage doors.. 2 of them were open. i couldnt see what was inside .. just a few
lights in some rooms.. could've been anything. the distance from the fence to the
warehouse is pretty long so its hard to see much unfortunately.. (good for them bad for
us) hehehe
There were a fair few people there... workmen walking in and out of the place.. cars here
and there... its quite amazing that houses are so damn close to it.. and to think they
dont know whats going on!! lol
I took some photos but i wanna take some more in the next coming days and check out whats
going on and see any good signs of people or any sort of pre production"
Melbournians keep watch! There are some pretty definite signs that things have begun to happen over in St Albans. And what's with the houses? Could they possibly have something to do with the production? Please e-mail me anything you happen to see!
Lots
of site updates today! First of all, I have created a new Anthony
Kirkland Jr Page that contains everything known about the actor so far. A link is now
featured on my Movie Information page, I will add new information as it becomes available.
The voting booth continues to be popular, with over 1800 votes so far! Click here to keep
those votes coming in!
I added a couple more pages of unofficial script today containing the most amusing quote from Lestat yet! See if you can find it over at my Unofficial Script section. I have changed the format a little and started a second section, as the other page was getting a bit too long. I will add more to my 'Personal Script Analysis' after my next script update.
I have also updated my Script Suggestions page with two brand new entries. One is a fantastic idea for an alternate beginning to the film, and the other makes lots of comparisons and includes some comments about my favourite movie of the moment - 'X-MEN'!!! J
5. August, 2000
The Anthony Kirkland Jr Voting
Booth has had a fantastic response so far! Thank you to all of you who have taken the time
to cast your votes. The booth has been running for just over four days, and already there
has been 546 responses! Current vote statistics support Anthony's casting, but the poll is
rather close. At the moment, 50% agree, while 43% disagree. To submit your votes, click here.
The poll will remain open
until 21. August, so keep those votes coming in!
And remember, every vote counts! J
And be assured that Anthony is definitely watching!!!
"Hi,
I guess you could figure out who this is, but I just wanted to say thank you for all that
you have personally done for me and a definite thank you to the people who have voted for
me to get the role. I have not been officially signed on, but WB is looking hard at the
fan sites about me and so far there have been none but you! They would love to put a
"no-name" actor in there instead of a Wes Bentley or a Stuart Townsend because
of the overhead involved in signing those well known actors. Last I checked I was up in
the polls, but it was really close!
E-mail the casting agency in Australia, e-mail Warner Brothers. Tell them how you feel -- they are listening and I am thankful. If this does happen to fall through which is one of my biggest fears then I will keep you in mind for possibly promoting my next film I may be starring in but right now this one is still a go!
Thanks for all of your help
Your Biggest Fan
Anthony Kirkland Jr."
The former Nestle warehouse at St Albans, Melbourne,
has begun its studio transformation. A reliable source today reports that:
"Vampire stuff is starting to cook at Nestle in St
Albans. All the old signage is still up, but they're not making food there anymore. The
production office, wardrobe, props and sets seem to all be there."
I am currently searching for photos of the warehouse to post this site. If anyone has or are willing to take any pictures they'd be prepared to share with fellow fans, please e-mail me! (as always, full accreditation will be given to the photographer)
As
promised, more script pages have now been added. Due to the
amount of news lately, I have only posted a couple of pages. However, another update will
be added this Tuesday!
3. August, 2000
ATTENTION MELBOURNIANS!!!
TONIGHT!!!
REVELATIONS NIGHTCLUB
9TH WARD
NEAR THE CORNER OF ELIZABETH
STREET & FLINDERS LANE
(ON THE FLINDERS LANE SIDE)
9PM TILL LATE
It has been reported that
casting people will be scouting the club for possible EXTRAS for the film!!!
Anyone interested should definitely get there tonight and make an appearance!!!
This news was originally reported on the Revelations Nightclub Homepage...however...
Strange But True Fact:
I discovered this news an hour ago, and then rushed home to post the info right here in my
News Updates, and during this time...the notice disappeared!!! The club was advertising on
their site that they have been contacted by the filmmakers and will be searching the
patrons for possible vampire extras for the film. I saw it right there on their hompage!
However, I just visited the same page and all reference to QotD is GONE! Hmmm, perhaps it
was supposed to be low-key, or without clubbers knowing about it? Whatever the case, it
was definitely online only hours ago that extras will be scouted tonight - so if you read
this in time - I'd get there ASAP! J
[special thanks go to SIMONREXs for this
info!]

Casting information is now steadily being released...
Firstly, I have found some older
references to the film on the official Prototype Casting site (http://www.prototypecasting.com.au). The following messages can all be
found on the Bulletin Board. So far, the casting director for the film, Greg Apps, has
posted these messages concerning the film:
12. June:
"We are in touch with the Warner Bros casting department regularly regarding Queen of
the D. At present, though they anticipate a late July pre production period with a
September shoot, it is cast driven. Meaning, until they confirm their lead, nothing is
certain. Wes Bentley (American Beauty) was touted for the lead but has now fallen through.
(Shame, he would have been fab)..."
19. July:
"In the very near future (as in next Tuesday) we will be starting the Warner Bros
feature "Queen of the Damned."
(as in 25. July!)
26. July:
"...the bulk of casting will be done in Melbourne. Select roles will be considered
from Sydney. You should send your resume to me C/. our Melbourne office: Prototype

Lestat Me Up
"Casting is currently underway for Anne Rices 'Queen of the Damned', the follow-up to
'Interview with the Vampire'. The film sees Lestat reincarnated as a rock 'n' roll star,
with the story revolving around him and his "underground, cyber, gothic" band. A

guitarist and drummer in the band. You must know how to play, be aged between 18 and 22

1. August, 2000
An important announcement today!
The latest candidate for Lestat,
Anthony Kirkland Jr, wants to hear from you!!! He is interested in what fans think of him
taking on the role, and so I have been asked to set up a voting booth specifically for
this purpose. Please take a moment to cast your votes here.
Anthony will be visiting this site soon to view the results. He will sign the guestbook
with his comments on 21. August. This
voting booth is obviously very important, so please spread the word that's it's here.
Obviously, the more people who vote, the better!!!
Great inside information today! Finally, there are some specific
location details! A reliable source informed me: "They're setting up the
wardrobe workshop at a warehouse in St Albans, a western suburb of Melbourne."
And then further details in today's edition of the 'Filmnet Daily Newsletter':
CHOCOLATE QUEENS
"The Queen Of the Damned shoot planned for September by Village/ Warner
bros will use a former nestle bulk warehouse in Regan st St Albans,
Melbourne as a studio and production office. The warehouse spans 12 000
sqm (Fox studios 6 studios only cover 10287 sqm!) with a 20 metre height
clearance and has an additional 6000 sqm of office space. Will the huge
rock scene now be shot indoors at the studio? Will this studio end up
being a permanent part of Australias film industry? hopefully!"
Anyone who lives in Melbourne, and especially St Albans, be sure to keep an eye out! Please e-mail me if you see or hear anything more about this warehouse...
I
have now added a brand new section - my Personal Script
Analysis - which can be accessed through my Script Info and Unofficial
Script pages. Rather than one big script review, I have decided to add my thoughts
section by section, with a new addition every time I post some more of the script. This
will be a continuing process until all pages have been added, and the script is completed.
I have tried to remain positive with my interpretations, but I do point out discrepencies
with the Chronicles, and some of the more negative aspects of the script that I feel need
re-working. Just remember that I have posted them as my own assumptions, and that these
are my personal opinions only!
