TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Prototype is now taking casting applications. While I am aware of the actual postal address, I have not yet received word from the company as to whether or not I can post this on my site. In the meantime, anyone interested in being considered for a role in this film should contact: prototypeadmin@prototypecasting.com.au

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) I have received the following confirmations from another source:
"Filming will begin in September, preparations are being done now."    (they certainly are!)
"Filming will be in a warehouse in Vic." [Melbourne, Victoria]
(which one remains uncertain...)
"They have a main man but I'm not sure who."
   (Anthony Kirkland Jr, perhaps? J)
"Costume designer is the same man who did Strictly Ballroom."
   (His name is Angus Strathie)

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Vittorrio17 has pointed out to me an interview with Aaliyah in 'Teen People' magazine (September 2000 edition). There are a couple of lines about 'Queen Of The Damned', and the article features the first quote that I have come across from Aaliyah concerning her role in the film. Here's a snippet of the interview:
Know The Words "Try Again" by Aaliyah
"The infamous dating guide The Rules claims a girls shouldn't give in to a guy's advances right away ---and that works just fine for Aaliyah. "I don't let you in easy," says the 21 year-old, who sings about her wary ways in "Try Again," from the soundtrack of her first film Romeo Must Die. " I may be shy on the first date," she says. "It doesn't mean I'm not interested.....On the second date I could open up." She hopes fans will get to open up to her sinister side as vampire Akasha in the film version of Anne Rice's The Queen of the Damned. "I wanted something different so [fans] get to see different sides," she says. Come 2001, the singer side should be back with her third disc. "People expect a lot when the family [including contributors Timberland and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot] gets together," she says (her previous "family"-helped CD id double platinum). "It's going to be upbeat...[with] youthful songs --- like a party album."

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) While I'm yet to receive another reply from the casting director of Prototype, in today's edition of the company's monthly newsletter, 'The Next Big Thing', he wrote: "I am heading off into the wilds of Melbourne for "Queen of the Damned" so will have more to say next month."

August looks set to be a very eventful time for this film! Things are finally moving!!!
As always, more updates real soon...
(and be sure to check out today's addition of script pages!)

Here is an exclusive picture of Anthony Kirkland Jr!!!

Kirkland.jpg (13434 bytes)

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Information about the young Georgian actor remains scarce, but today I received this photo from my (very generous!) anonomous source! If we use our imagination, it gives us a more accurate idea of what he looks like, and how he will possibly suit the role of Lestat. I have also added this pic to the Lestatian line-up on my Movie Info page, where Kirkland takes sixth position in the collection of rumoured contenders so far. An announcement still has not been made concerning the possible casting of this young actor but, hopefully, there'll be more news soon...

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) I have now posted the next few pages of the script, detailing some rather *strange* dialogue between Lestat and various members of the LA media...make of it what you will! And remember, if you have any constructive thoughts about the script so far, be sure to visit my QotD Script Discussion Forum!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Prototype almost definitely looks set to be the Australian casting company involved with the film. Find out more about them at their website:  http://www.prototypecasting.com.au (special thanks to Sharon Thompson for sending me this link!) However, there is currently no news concerning Queen of the Damned. Yesterday, I wrote e-mails to both administration and Greg Apps, the casting director of the company, explaining my creation of this site, and requesting further information about their involvement with the movie. Today I was fortunate enough to receive this speedy reply (thanks Greg!)  J:

"We are finalising arrangements as we speak (or should I say type) and will respond then.
Thanks for the link. I will watch with interest.
Greg Apps"

**Stay tuned for future updates!**

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Other news today:
-If you live in the Sydney area,  be sure to check out the local gothic/industrial radio show, "Noxious Muse" on 2RSR88.9FM. They're planning to update listeners about Queen of the Damned using info from this site, and are currently looking at getting the show webcast so that it's accessible to everyone!
-Another entry was added today to my Script Suggestions page. Remember, if you have any thoughts on what *you'd* like to see in this movie, just e-mail me with your comments!
- More script pages will be added tomorrow, and they're certain to entertain as Lestat meets the LA media!!!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) An announcement looks set to be made real soon concerning the casting of Anthony Kirkland Jr. However, it may remain rather ambiguous as to which part he has actually been assigned, and information about the actor will probably remain scarce. My anonomous source has this information:
"He will meet on Monday in LA and probably be signed...What I expect to happen is an announcement that he has been signed to play and intergal part of the film and not see him until the previews.  There will be no pictures.  They want to use this "new actor" hype!"
And then today...
"Kirkland has a part of a male vampire.  Kirkland's favorite movies. . .Top Gun and Jerry Maguire.  Obviously his favorite actor is Tom Cruise.  That's all the info I can give you until an announcement but I think you can figure it out.  But you know how fickle WB is!!!"
Yes, Warner Brothers is definitely 'fickle', especially in their casting of a particular lead role! However, you heard it here people, this brand new actor might well be our new Lestat (although the studio may initially deny it!)

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Another interesting revelation today came from "Dan", a visitor to my site who signed my guestbook, but unfortunately did not include his e-mail address.  He wrote:
"Well to start my ignorance I had never heard of Queen of the damned until yesterday (Sunday). The only way I heard of it was when i did a screen test for the movie today. I don't know what I actually auditioned for but I know they had to send off the tape to the states to see if I was right for any role (I don't think i did that well). Casting for the movie is being done by Prototype in Port Melbourne. That's all the info I know sorry, but if I get a callback from the casting agency I'll keep you informed about what is going on....."

Melbournians take note! The casting company has finally been revealed!
If anyone has any information on Prototype, please e-mail me.
(And Dan, if you're reading this, please do write back!)

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) The unofficial script has now been updated! I added four more script pages today, with several more to follow this coming Thursday. I'm aiming to post pages every few days from now on, so be sure to check back for regular updates!
I have also created a brand new 'QotD Script Discussion Forum', and my personal comments concerning the script are coming real soon...

20. July, 2000

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) An important update about Anthony Kirkland Jr. today from my anonomous source. It appears that Anthony is definitely under heavy consideration for the role of Lestat! My source revealed that "Kirkland Jr did a call back for a visit to Los Angeles California to do screen tests for Lestat". At first it wasn't entirely clear just which character he was being tested for, but it turns out that Kirkland Jr. is now the sixth candidate for the leading vamp! Look out for news of this actor in the future...I'm sure this information won't stay exclusive to this site for long! J

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Today I again updated my Movie Information section with news of Anthony, and also a link to the great site, '100% Aaliyah'. While she has avoided the spotlight for quite some time now, Aaliyah is STILL the only person to be officially cast in this movie. '100% Aaliyah' is the best related site I've come across so far and, furthermore, a brand new 'Queen of the Damned' page was added just a couple of days ago (check for the link under 'Movies'):

19. July, 2000

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) More news today from my anonymous source concerning those casting meetings in Houston. It seems that yet another young actor is under consideration for this film. His name is Anthony Kirkland Jr. Anthony is 22-years-old and was born in Georgia. My source isn't sure if he is being offered the role of Lestat, but it's definitely "one of the more sought after characters":

"The meetings in Houston are over with Kirkland heading back to Atlanta tonight [Tuesday] with possibilities look very promising for the young Kirkland.  Could he have been bitten with a major role for his first role?  Only time will tell.  I hear the screen tests went very very well and Rymer liked him and found him a very convincing leader of the damned.  Kirkland Jr. = Lestat??  Who knows.  But I'm ALMOST positive he will make his motion picture debut in Queen of the Damned, but it looks promising that filming will begin soon now that possibly Warner Bros. have found their Lestat.  A quick description of him since there is not a picture of the new actor available is that he has dark hair (which will require a wig) and bright blue eyes 6 feet tall.  That's really all I have right now until they make the official announcement at the end of the month."

As far as I know, this news is currently *exclusive* to this site! Yep, you heard it here first, folks!!!
Keep a look out for news of the official announcement within the next couple of weeks...

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) While things are beginning to look a bit more positive on the production side of things, negativity continues to surround the film. Today I became aware of the IGN FilmForce Queen of the Damned script review. The reviewer looks at the same copy that I have bought, and so I was able to make comparisons to my own interpretation of the script. To read his review, click here!

Be warned that this reviewer has practically NO knowledge of the Chronicles, and so is rather ignorant concerning some aspects of this film. I also don't agree with his description of Jesse, in which he describes her as a "freak". However, I DO agree with much of what he says about the script, including the "atrocious dialogue" and general confusion throughout the film. He also makes some interesting speculations about rumoured cast members...Questions? Comments? E-mail me!

And be assured that over the next week or so, I will finally get back to posting those script pages!!! (Then you'll be able to see just what all the fuss is about!)  J

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) There was no further news concerning the Stuart Townsend rumour over the weekend. However, it's early days yet. Information about him is rather hard to find, and the only dedicated site I came across was the Unofficial Stuart Townsend Website. Feel free to check it out for more information about the actor!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) However, I did receive some *very* interesting news from an anonomous source today:

"There is a man meeting with casting directors in Texas for the role----very hush hush...I know that it has been in Houston and the meetings with this man have been going on for about a week. It is an unknown. That's really all I can tell you right now. But the Townsend thing, I'm pretty sure is a smoke-screen."

Could Stuart's candidacy be like that of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - little more than a misleading rumour??? And is there now a sixth contender for the role? Apparently so!!! Whatever the case, it seems the hunt is still on for this film's Lestat...the search has not concluded just yet!

I have now completed a major update of my Movie Information section - feel free to
check it out!

TiledDividerSml.gif (1246 bytes)

14. July, 2000

MAJOR NEWS:
The role of Lestat may have finally been cast!!!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) A huge rumour started up today concerning the casting of the vampire Lestat! The new candidate is Stuart Townsend. I first came across the news at IGN Coming Soon!:

"Townsend Is 'Damned': Irish-born actor Stuart Townsend is in negotiations to star as the vampire Lestat in Warner Bros./Village Roadshow Prods.' "Queen of the Damned" for director Michael Rymer ("In Too Deep"). According to the Hollywood Reporter, Townsend ("Wonderland," "Simon Magus" and "Shooting Fish") steps into the role after the high-profile departure of Wes Bentley, who abruptly dropped out of the project in April. Though Bentley and Warner Bros. have come to an amicable resolution, the studio had to move forward on the project because the option on Rice's material expires in October. The project is scheduled to go before cameras at the end of September. "Damned" follows Lestat as he becomes a rock star whose music wakes up Akasha, the queen of all vampires. In the process, a young woman who works as a vampire hunter falls in love with him.  Singer Aaliyah, who made her feature debut this year in the studio's "Romeo Must Die," is set to star in the project as the queen."

Upcomingmovies.com and Popcorn.co.uk also reported the news (click on sites to view related articles), and the 'Inside the Industry' site, 4Filmakers.com, has him officially listed.

Stuart is not very well known in the mainstream American film industry as yet, and his most notable role was probably in 1997's 'Shooting Fish' (which I definitely recommend!) To find out more about the film, visit the Official Shooting Fish Site. Stuart will also soon be seen in Wonderland and Almost Adam. Click on the film titles to find out more from Upcomingmovies.com. Here are some pictures of the young Irish actor (yes, he was born in Dublin!):

Stuart2Sml.jpg (9779 bytes)      StuartSml.jpg (5285 bytes)       Stuart1Sml.jpg (10549 bytes)

Last year, Stuart was apparently set to star in the much-hyped upcoming first installment of 'Lord of the Rings'. However, shortly after filming commenced, he was sacked. To find out why, read the article from the Lord of the Rings Movie Site.

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) And yes, it's now been widely reported that filming has been
pushed back until late September...just before the October deadline!!! Apparently, the 21. August starting date has been classified as "too soon" by the studio, and it's doubtful a precise date will be released again. Therefore, I have now adjusted the countdown clock on my Menu page to count the days until 1. October - the date of no return!!!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Just a reminder that Stuart is the fifth candidate for Lestat. In the past, they have been (in order):

1) Heath Ledger - (The Patriot, 10 Things I Hate About You)
Earlier this year, he was definitely "in talks" for the role of "a vampire", although it was never specified which one. Several sources said it was not Lestat, and rather another minor character (perhaps Armand?). However, others insisted he was offered the role of Lestat. Recently, this rumour was refuelled by a misleading tipster over at 'Corona's Coming Attractions'. This information was totally inaccurate. Be assured that Heath has definitely had to pass on the project due to other film commitments.

2) Wes Bentley - (American Beauty, Beloved)
He was extremely close to signing on for the film, but backed out at the very last minute leaving Warner Brothers rather 'annoyed'. Wes and the studio have since come to an "amicable resolution".

3) Josh Hartnett - (The Faculty, Halloween H20, Here On Earth)
Became the frontrunner for Lestat soon after Wes's abrupt exit. He was supposedly "in talks" for the role, and the leading cadidate at the time. Little more has been reported since, fuming speculation that the "talks" fell through...

4) Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - (Velvet Goldmine, Ride With The Devil)
A very short-lived rumour started by yet another annoying tipster over at 'Corona's Coming Attractions'. It's doubtful this ever had any truth to it.

5) Stuart Townsend - (Shooting Fish, Wonderland, Almost Adam)
Four reputable sites reported his candidacy in a matter of hours!!! It appears that this young actor may be the most promising contender so far...Look out for an update real soon!

Look out for an updated Movie Information section real soon!
And more script pages will be posted early next week!!!

Important news today about Anne Rice's position concerning the film!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Last week, this official statement was posted on the Official Anne Rice Site. This indicates that while Anne is aware of the film, she has no contact with the studio and only knows as much as we do. Be assured that she is not involved with the project!

STATEMENT FROM ANNE REGARDING QUEEN OF THE DAMNED MOVIE

"I do not know anything secret or special about the movie QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. I only know exactly what everyone else knows and you are likely to find things out before I do."

Anne Rice

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Today, I received the following information from a reliable source. I absolutely agree with everything that is said here and, hopefully, this will provide some general enlightenment on several matters:
(Just remember that, in regards to the film's production, nothing is definite - not yet!)

"About suggesting sites to Anne: No matter how many times people email her suggesting web sites relating to Anne's books or movies based on them, such emails will be fruitless. Anne does NOT surf the web, or use the internet herself in any way. Her staff reads messages to her, sees that she gets them, and she dictates responses. For more information on this, you can see http://www.webvoodoo.com/annerice/speaks/102497-rosie.htm - I know that this is from 1997, but anne hasn't changed her position on this.

Secondly, about Anne being involved with script development, casting, etc.: Anne has NO ability to exert any influence whatsoever on this production. On IWTV, she was invited to participate, and did so, but even then she had no casting control - remember her appalled reaction to the casting of Tom Cruise? (Of course, she later recanted that.) In addition, it's suspected that Hollywood may be reluctant to involve her in any productions, present or future, considering how vocal she was during the IWTV situation. I surmise that most producers, directors, etc., would prefer that she remain at a distance, and they have the ability to enforce that.

A personal comment: I suspect that this particular movie may not make it through production. I have a feeling that WB merely started production in order to preserve their rights, which were due to expire. WB must actually complete a certain amount (unknown quantity) of PRINCIPAL production, which means that they must have film in the can which contains one of the principal actors, by sometime in the year 2000. Although the quantity is unknown, this could be as little as one take of a scene with Lestat, Akasha, etc. At that point they could shut production down, or "postpone it", and still preserve their rights to make the film. That could account for the exceedingly low budget accorded to this film, which is almost absurdly small, considering the probable scope of this movie. They might be able to get away with putting $1-2 million into it, and shelving the production, or "back-burner" it.

Personally, that is one of my 2 hopes for the dÈnouement of this film. It would allow them to make the film properly, and without haste, and with a respectable budget at a later time. My other hope would be that it tanks, and the rights revert to Anne, who could then see that the movie is suitably made by reselling the rights, but attaching contingencies such as script approval, which would ensure the integrity of the film to the book. I'm sure she didn't anticipate this as being a problem when she sold the rights around 15 years ago."

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Today, a surprising double revelation!!! It is now definite that Heath Ledger's mysterious upcoming Australian movie is not 'Queen of the Damned', but is instead 'Four Feathers' (see 1. July update). Therefore, Heath will not be Lestat! (as I suspected earlier!)

In addition, former Lestat candidate Wes Bentley might also be starring in 'Four Feathers'! Wes supposedly pulled out of QotD to "
take time off after a whirlwind year that included the unexpected success of and subsequent frenzy surrounding the Oscar-winning 'American Beauty' as well as the completion of two other features, Artisan Entertainment's 'Soul Survivor' and MGM's 'Kingdom Come'." (see 16. April update). However, since then, he has supposedly commited himself to two more films!  (?)  Despite all this, it seems that "the studio and Bentley have since come to an amicable resolution".

The Hollywood Reporter today printed the following story:  (IGN Coming Soon! also reported much of this under the title
'Bentley To Join Ledger In 'Feathers')

'Four Feathers' plucks Bentley for a key role
By Zorianna Kit

"LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Wes Bentley ("American Beauty") is in final negotiations to join Heath Ledger in Paramount Pictures/Miramax Films' feature "Four Feathers" for helmer Shekhar Kapur.

Based on the late A.E.W. Mason's novel "The Four Feathers," the story, set in 1898, follows a British officer (Ledger) who resigns his post before his nation's invasion of Sudan. His friends and fiancee send him four white feathers, symbolizing cowardice, but he redeems his honor by disguising himself as an Arab and secretly saving the lives of those who branded him a coward. Bentley would play Lt. Jack Durrance, who is in love with Ledger's fiancee and proposes to her when Ledger is believed dead.

Stanley and Bob Jaffe's Jaffilms will produce the project.

After "Feathers," Bentley will star as Montgomery Clift in the indie feature "Monty" for casting director-turned-director Billy Hopkins. "Monty" is slated to start shooting in the spring.

In April, Bentley abruptly dropped out of Warner Bros.' vampire project "Queen of the Damned," leading the studio to contemplate several scenarios on how to handle the matter. The role has not yet been recast and the studio and Bentley have since come to an amicable resolution, according to a studio spokeswoman.

Repped by WMA and manager Lee Daniels, Bentley next stars in Artisan Entertainment's "Soul Survivors," MGM's "Kingdom Come" and the indie feature "The White River Kid."

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes)
Corona's Coming Attractions had a rather large update a couple of days ago but, once again, no other site has followed their leads as yet. However, you never really know when tipsters are right or wrong, and even CCA has admitted these rumours are unsubstantiated, but just in case there IS some truth involved, here's the relevant information.
(Just don't say I didn't warn you if these turn out to be inaccurate!)

1. There is supposedly a  brand new candidate for Lestat! Who is it now, I hear you ask? Well, none other than Jonathan Rhys-Meyers! CCA reports:

"First, we have a report that although Ledger is indeed on his way to Australia to film, it's for a project called Four Feathers and not this one. So who would play Lestat? [Thanks to Chiller.]
Glad you asked. An anonymous scooper thinks he has the answer. Here's all we got: "I just saw something about Jonathan Rhys-Meyers from the movie Michael Collins. I hear he's set to play Lestat in a certain vampire pic." You! There in back! Put that hat back on! [Posted anonymously.]"

Just remember that Jonathan has been a very popular choice among fans for the role, and this could be nothing more that someone reporting this rumour. Remember that the news about Heath turned out to be unsubstantiated. Still, you never know...

2. Gabrielle fans rejoice!!! According to this CCA tipster (and in direct contrast to my script information), Gabrielle will indeed be in the movie!

"One of my sources who has connections with Warner Bros. yesterday informed me that the studio is apparently negotiating with Julia Roberts for her to appear as Lestat's mother Gabrielle in Queen Of The Damned. It seems Warners wants to have at least one box office star in the cast (aside from Aaliyah and the still unconfirmed Heath Ledger). However, since Julia's part is going to be small, they are hoping that they could work out a deal to lower the actress' fees (Julia is contracted to do films for $20 million)." [Thanks to Glitternet over at Glitter Magazine.]

Well, obviously, with a proposed budget of only $50 million, Julia would have to be very generous in account of this film! Her current asking price equals that of Tom Cruise, whom Warner Brothers obviously could not afford a second time around even if they wanted too! And, as we all know, Gabrielle is not featured in my draft of the script. Although, as I've said before, the script is subject to change several times throughout the production process. Perhaps the script has been redrafted? Perhaps the character of Gabrielle has been added for Julia alone? Or perhaps this rumour is like the one of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and little more than over-speculation of another popular casting choice among fans???

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) The popular Yahoo search engine has had a major overhaul recently. Previously, when you typed in "Queen of the Damned Movie", only three lousy matches appeared. Now, a massive 5616 matches are found, and guess who's site is on the very top of the list?!?  J

This site is in FIRST POSITION!!!
Feel free to search for yourself at Yahoo!

There are many links to other 'Queen of the Damned' tidbits of information all over the net. I searched through the first 150 (!), and that's about where the general relevance ended.  I found that I have previously covered the majority of information featured in these links within this site. However, I did come across a few interesting articles that are worth reading. Feel free to check out:

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Music from the Movies - Richard Gibbs interview - Find out what other films this talented composer has worked on, and read about his contribution to QotD (this information will soon be featured on my Movie Information page)

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Korn Chat Transcript (February, '99) - For those who want to find out more about Korn (who are providing much of the music for the film).

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Anne Rice - A fantastic site on Anne Rice for those who'd like to discover more about the author and her books. Nothing on QotD yet, but includes an insightful section for those who'd like to know more about the original film, 'Interview With The Vampire'.

If you decide to search through the Yahoo entires yourself and happen to find another interesting link,
please e-mail me!

4. July, 2000

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) I have now added a brand new Script Suggestions page to my site! Feel free to check it out, and maybe send in a few opinions of your own!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Today I also created a clock counting down the days until production is set to begin! The proposed date is 21. August, and that's now less than 7 weeks away! Start  counting down back at the Menu!

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) Another Anne Rice phone transcript has appeared on the Official Anne Rice Site. It is dated yesterday, 3. July, 2000. To read the full transcript, click here.
Once again, she has declared, "
I have no information on Hollywood's plans for THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED."
Despite our countless messages on her phone line and in her e-mail account (special thanks to everyone who mentioned this site! J), it seems she still has not found any movie information!

Over the last few weeks, I have come to believe that perhaps Anne does know what's going on, but she keeps insisting she doesn't so that she can avoid the spotlight! Whatever her opinions might be, she doesn't want them to go public, and so she's telling us she has no information to avoid giving a statement!
This is my personal theory, I'm not really sure what's going on. But, if this is true, I don't really blame her. There has been so much criticism about the movie already that it's no wonder she doesn't want to get involved. We all know what happened last time with 'Interview', and I would assume that she doesn't want to go through the same experience again...

TiledDividerSml.gif (1246 bytes)

3. July, 2000

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) MAJOR casting news was found today!!! According to Marilyn Beck from E! Online, both Josh Hartnett and Heath Ledger will NOT be Lestat!!!

"Dear Marilyn: I heard a rumor that Heath Ledger will be the next Vampire Lestat. Is this true? I hope so. He is the most watchable young Aussie since Mel Gibson.
Shelley Smith, Albuquerque

Dear Shelley: After American Beauty's breakout star Wes Bentley dropped out of Warner Bros' Queen of the Damned, Josh Hartnett was in negotiations to step into the role. However, those plans fell apart. Ledger won't be Lestat either, and casting for the role is still wide open."

(To read it for yourself, click here!)

Marilyn's answer is short and directly to the point, but what I'd like to know is where on earth did she get this information? I happened to stumble across this alarming piece of news while searching through the E! Online site. It was listed as an archived link, and was actually dated 20. June...this is the SAME DAY that the latest Heath Ledger rumour was announced at Corona's Coming Attractions! Coincidence? Maybe. But perhaps this whole idea of Heath Ledger as Lestat may have all been a bizarre hoax by a CCA tipster...?

I'm not sure what to believe right now, but I'm tending to side with Marilyn here. Heath's involvement has been looking less and less likely throughout the last couple of weeks, and this has almost definitely confirmed (for me, anyways!) that he will not be Lestat. Yep, I think casting for the role probably IS still wide open, and Warner Brothers are right back to where they started. They now have precisely 7 weeks until the deadline...and so the countdown begins...

TriangleBlk.gif (859 bytes) 'The Patriot' has now been released in the US, and Heath Ledger is reportedly receiving great reviews! The August edition of Vanity Fair has labeled him the "hot new Aussie in Hollywood", and today's edition of Herald Sun reports that even Mel Gibson has said, "He does his stuff really well. He's got a real good screen presence and a lot of talent." There are even rumours of an Oscar nomination!!!
For more information on the film, visit The Patriot Official Site. The release date for Australia is 20. July.

However, there is still no word on Heath's possible inclusion in 'Queen of the Damned'. His involvement seems increasingly unlikely, as he has several films to complete this year, including 'A Knight's Tale'. And the Australian news site - news.com.au - today reported another possible project:
"'Ledger plucked for 'Four Feathers'
Aussie up-and-comer Heath Ledger (The Patriot, Ten Things I Hate About You) is close to sealing the lead in the remake of the 1939 drama Four Feathers. Jude Law was originally meant to play the role."
With his growing workload and rising success, is it possible that Heath will end up like Wes Bentley with too many other commitments and the need for time to adjust to his newfound popularity???
