HELL AT 30 BELOW is breathtaking, heart pounding, and inspiring. Your story truly touched the deepest part of my soul, the power, the inner strength of your character Rose had - her highs and lows in her childhood and teen years, her love triangle between two brothers, and her eventual survival as a woman in such a domestically cruel situation. It was her world, but the internal and physical strength she mustered to get out of that situation and find her way back to the man she really loved, and to change her life for the better, is a true testimony to the human spirit! A most compelling, heart wrenching, but uplifting story of the courage, of a woman who rose above domestic violence, instead of it defining her. It truly moved me. Awareness reaps knowledge, and knowledge brings accountability. It's a beautiful thing Karen. Thanks again for sharing your story Hell At 30 Below. I cannot think of a more apropos title than yours!

Karen Kinsman's screenplay, HELL AT 30 BELOW, is a captivating story based on real life events. The main character, Rose, emerges from the depths of torture, brutality and despair, to a courageous young woman who overcomes life threatening obstacles. The flashbacks, many of them with a setting in the late 60s and 70s, add an enormous element of interest. This screenplay is riveting, and despite horrific abuse, this story is also a love story. I would undoubtedly love to see this screenplay on the big screen!

HELL AT 30 BELOW is a harrowing tale of the courageous struggle and loss of innocence. The story takes us on a journey through time, about a woman's "life", and eventually forces the audience to enter the dark world of domestic abuse, and causes them to be able to gain insight into the heroine's downward spiral, and her inner strength to overcome what seems impossible odds, in reclaiming her life, as a "free" woman. Hell at 30 Below is an authentic portrait of the silent lives many women lead and is a definite reminder that when all that is left is HOPE, hope will get you through.

Hell AT 30 BELOW is powerful material and keeps the reader engaged. The story line scores for women, and recovering men will identify with strongly. In a couple of the scenes, the story take us to Vietnam (I wasn’t in the jungles of Nam, enlisted 1980 ) but I knew exactly what HE (High Explosive) spots (coordinates and movements to get artillery on an enemy position) and Fire for effect are all terms I know, all too well. I did shipboard Naval Gun Fire Support, one of our specialties from a Navy ship. I think Hell At 30 Below is a really great story, a human story. As I read it, I didn't want to stop! With a great cast and crew, the film can be something really special!

HELL AT 30 BELOW is a brilliant story! The struggles and abuse that plagued your lead female character, love- lorn Rose was written to perfection. The story was captivating. The progression through the story was natural. I enjoyed the descriptions of the settings so that I could accurately place the characters in their surroundings. The description of the characters emotions, movements, and thoughts were fulfilled. I read this as if I was sitting and watching the film. Weaving the present with flashbacks was brilliant. It developed the story line completely. The story behind the abuse, the determination to overcome, and the courage to leave was enlightening. I cannot wait until this goes to the Big Screen. And I am sure it will!

I loved HELL AT 30 BELOW! The story tugged at my heart for many reasons.. and you 'introduced' me to the characters and story; such as a storyteller would introduce it to an older daughter. The war (my own father), the military (me), fond memories of locations. Love lost and found. I enjoyed reading your script and am proud of you for what you have been able to share. A very personal slice of your life and those close to you.

HELL AT 30 BELOW is a unique story about a unique woman, and I know it will deeply touch so many other women who have suffered the loss of dreams, family, and self. It could become a powerful force which teaches women, that it is entirely within our power to reinvent ourselves, even when we are left with nothing. We can build a new life, from the bottom up, more beautiful than anything we ever imagined. Thank you for sharing from the heart, by putting so much of yourself into this compelling story based on true events in your past. You are a courageous woman, on so many levels.

I have known Karen for a number of years. She is a very good person and a tremendously talented writer. I thoroughly enjoyed reading HELL AT 30 BELOW. Nothing would please me more than to see this story based on true events in Karen's life, be made into a film. It's a story to be seen and told. I commend Karen for being so open and allowing us a glimpse into her world.
