Related Clubs & Activities

There are several extracurricular activities available to cadets which provide added insight into aerospace and leadership experiences. Although you are NOT required to participate in these activities, they will help you understand and enjoy the AFJROTC program. Involvement teaches a cadet resposiblity, teamwork, and cooperation. It is also a sure-fire way to create lasting friendships and to have a guaranteed good time.

Kitty Hawk Air Society

The Fort Walton Beach High School Air Commando Chapter's main purposes are to promote academic excellence and to promote patriotism, not only in KHAS or AFJROTC, but in the public as well. An invitation to join will be extended only to those cadets of good standing who have a minimum academic grade of "B" in the AFJROTC course and an overall "B" average in school with no failing grades. Cadets must complete a pledge program to become active members. A distinctive badge and chords will be awarded upon indoctrination into this elite and prestigious honor society.

Rocketry Club

Members of this activity will learn to build and launch model rockets. Cadets who meet the qualifications established by the United States Air Force are also eligible for a rocketry badge to be worn with the uniform.

Modeling Club

Cadets who enjoy building model airplanes or other aerospace wehicles where attention is paid to detail should consider this activity. No previous experience is necesary. Projects from this club may be used for classroom display. Cadets can also be eligible for American Modeling Association wings to worn with the uniform.

Field Trips

Field trips are an important, interesting part of the Aerospace Science program. During the past we have visited Cape Kennedy, Fort Rucker, Pensecola NAS, Eglim AFB, and hav flown on Hurlburt Field and Duke Field aircraft. The uniform is worn on all field trips. Field trips normally take place during school days; however, some may involve overnight stays. All cadets are eligible to participate providing they meet all academic and grooming standards.
